Of course Fury couldn't press forward all the time but when Wilder did attack he simply extended the lead left and used it like a pole to keep Wilder from cutting the distance and landing the right hand cleanly. Against a fighter than slips the jab or ducks under it, this would of been less effective but because Wilder does none of that there was no way he could get past the extended left hand and jump on Fury with the right hand. When Wilder did land it, it was only ever a glancing shot.
I'm interested to know if Fury's camp noticed an issue with Wilder's foot spacing coming into the fight and planned to attack it.

Tyson Fury is a straight-up WWE name. I had to Wikipedia it the first time I heard of him, cause I'm like there's no way that's real.

And a guy named Deontay Wilder, who has iffy boxing technique and likes to go bombing with his right hand? We fukking Rocky now.

I think Lennox Lewis would beat him, but I think Lewis has the best chance of beating any heavyweight from any era, mainly because of those physical attributes you mentioned.

Seems like Wilder is the greatest actor of our generation, because he did a flawless impersonation of a man getting beaten like a rented mule. All the falling over and spraying blood was just jokes.

    Very cool.

I admit that until Fury fought Klitscko, I didn't know who he was. At the time I didn't like him for beating Klitschko.

But, him and his story grew on me and I became a fan. He is a legend.

I didn't even think MMA this weekend.

Wilder, who needed seven stitches to close a cut inside his left ear, said he thought the first knockdown was from an illegal punch behind the head and that Fury hit him illegally several times. Wilder said he was ticked off that Kenny Bayless, among the most experienced championship referees in boxing, did not adequately protect him, though he did dock one point from Fury in the fifth round.
Again, this coming from a man who prefaced everything by saying he wasn't making excuses. Even today that's all I'm hearing from him.

This era is worse in terms of quality HW's than the Vitali/Wlad era.
Crazy that a guy like Wilder held the legendary WBC title for such a long time.

I would think some of the MMA brahs would understand combat sports mentality but apparently not. The minute a fighter understands or comes the realization that his opponent is better, they've lost mentally. Fighters ALWAYS make excuses for their losses one way or another. It's how the mind works and keeps your confidence high.

Wilder at 34 it's to late to overhaul his boxing technique.. but what it's not too late to do is find you a team that maximize your strengths, which is your length and amazing right hand, and solid jabs.

I still think Wilder can beat Fury, I just don't like the game plan his team came up with this last fight.. they didn't prepare at all for Fury coming forward and shortening the distance

When Mike Tyson fought, most of his opponents were scared shiitless before the fight, because they knew Mike would be in there to tear their heads clean off.

Wilder was surprised how Fury came right at him when the bell rang. Fury's model was to keep close and cancel out Wilder's super punch. And, to beat him up. In all of Fury's fights, he had a strategy and on each of those many people didn't believe him. But, he always did what he said he was going to do. There is your high boxing IQ and Fury exposed Wilder. Ruiz won most of the rounds until he was clocked. Fury is just smarter and a more talented boxer.

No one has ever doubted Fury wasn't a better BOXER than Wilder. Even people who picked Wilder readily admitted this. Against Ortiz Wilder did a great job of staying patient and keeping away from Ortiz's big shots. I just think most people were surprised by Wilder and his boxing , when if you've followed the HW division at all it wasn't surprising in the least. The surprising part was Fury coming forward and pressuring as much as he did. That surprised Wilder and rocked him and he never recovered after that knockdown. It was actually a good even fight until then.

People keep using the word "exposed" and it's annoying, and ironically exposes you as someone who hasn't been following boxing.. EVERYONE KNEW WILDER IS A ONE TRICK PONY. The hard part was figuring out how to get to Wilder before he got to you. Fury did a great job, but in a rematch against a puncher with a lethal right hand that won't always be the case

I agree with you here. By exposed I mean not that great of a pure boxer. That doesn't mean that he can't fight.

Even the ESPN commentators were saying 'exposed' for his lack of boxing skills. But, they also said he can fight as a puncher.

Some of what I've said about the fight, but I agree with pretty much all of this. Repped.

I think it's less about Wilder being exposed, Fury just once again showing how good he is.

Kinda more ignorant assessments going on here.

What nobody is thinking about is that when theres a size mismatch, the only thing you can do is have a "punchers chance" either way. The only way to stop a bigger guy is to keep him away with the threat of getting hit with a huge punch.

So the match was decided by weight and bloat. Thats not really even a boxing skill.

If Wilder was more "skilled" it wouldn't have made a difference because he wasnt strong enough to not get rag dolled.

You cant take the best boxers in the world, put may weather against a 200lbs guy and he will get dominated. Doesnt matter how good he is.

If anything Wilder would have needed to squat even heavier and come in super tanky to be able to control the clinch better, forget punching lol.

weight limits exist for a reason.

All the boxers from the mid era are tiny and would get wrecked by both these guys.

hollyfield and Lennox lewis were manlets in comparison to both.

Did you see that Goerge foreman fight tho when he was old? looked like he was just standing there. Wilder would bank on him first round, and everyone he ever won against.

Wilder would destroy all of those who grew up with all that technique because some of that stuff is bs anyway and bypassable. Sports evolve and sometimes they get less complex. Look at Bball for example. All that matters is how much you lift. Thats why Jordan dominated, he started lifting first before the others. Same with boxing, guys are stronger now, theres less "technique" available. Even what Fury did was only 10% of his whole arsenal of "techniques" because its useless.

THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IS SIZE>

Wilder is bigger than those guys. Fury is even bigger.

    Wilder knocked Fury out....

then he got EVEN BIGGER and cheated even more

Not by skill, but by size.

Wilder knocked Fury out because he was too similar to his size. He wasnt bigger enough. Wasnt cheating enough.

Wilder would knock out all the lil clinical classical boxers. Every single one. So would Megaton Fury.

Dude looks like he coulda been a Roman Legionary commander in HBO's Rome.

Lmao theres so much wrong with this idk if it’s even worth responding to.

Wilder has faced a bunch of cab drivers most of them which also started boxing late. The HW division nowadays for the most part is a bunch athletes who failed in other sports unlike back then when boxing was a top 5 sport and had actual competition to get into the pros.
