Giving up anything for Lent?

Many people start Lent on Wednesday 26th but there are several traditions with different dates. I'm assuming Wednesday in this post, but it's all good. Including the Sundays (which don't normally figure in the math for some reason) it's 49 days

Anyone giving up anything bigger than just sugary snacks?

I've done the not very imaginative giving up sweets/candy/pudding/deserts although I just ate half a bagel with honey because that doesn't count (not sure why though, mostly because I was very hungry, I'll invent a better self justification later)

Also decided that between 8pm and 12 lunchtime I won't eat anything, which I think counts as "IF". Not sure how that plays nicely with morning gym

All my chocolate and sweets days ended 61 days 13 hours and 10 or so minutes ago... I won't lie it hasn't been easy, those Recess's PB cups had me like crack. It's still one day at a time with those.

So did I, (gave it up) I was raised in a Catholic environment, up until I was 12 I had a drug problem. I was drug to church, drug to communion, drug to ash Wednesday.. yada yada yada. I don't participate either and haven't for near 50 years. Lightening hasn't got me yet

Swearing. I'd like to do drinking but going to NY and San Diego in March and that might be too much commitment. I'll stay off the drink as much as possible and pray the Rosary every day.

Mine was Catholic-lite, AKA Episcopalian. Our pastor used to refer to us as "God's frozen people."

I spent a lot of years trying like hell to believe in heaven. Giving that up was a blessing.
