Doing 5g a day and drink around a gallon of water a day. Is a gallon generally enough?

I'm pretty sure you can just drink to thirst unless you are doing some lengthy workouts that make you sweat like a pig.
I take creatine, I have never planned my fluid intake. Drink to thirst, weigh yourself after training and replace lost water if you sweat a lot. Make sure you have foods in your diet containing electrolytes (usually this doesn't require special planning - just check your typical food choices)

Varies person to person. As a rule of thumb I tell all my clients to aim for at least a gallon a day.
Supplement a good diet: don't diet on supplements.
