His power is not in the same ball park as Tyson's.
That was hugely entertaining for some reason. Wilder was barely even swinging and still manage to beat the fuk out of that guy.

Anyway, back to the Wilder/Tyson hypothetical, what people underrate most with Mike Tyson is his speed. Footspeed, handspeed, everything. His power got all the attention and rightfully so, and there'd be times when he would coast on that power, just try to haymaker some fool and get back to partying. But when he was on top of his game, he was quick.

Wilder's 6'7", but Tyson could close on him and start throwing some VERY hard punches VERY fast. The name of the game for Wilder is keeping Tyson at arm's length, if Iron Mike gets inside then things would be over quickly.

Mike Tyson was a fierce body puncher. Doesn't matter if Wilder is 6'7". Tyson would chop him down, then knock his head off.

Wilder has some pretty good tricks up his sleeves and a good record, but he is not a boxer.

In the first Fury / Wilder fight, Fury kept his hands down and he was open to Wilder's massive right hand. Hopefully, Fury learned from that and otherwise, Fury out-boxed Wilder the whole fight.

Tyson had a lot of trouble with taller fighters who could jab. He still wins, but it would be closer than you think. I also get rustled as **** at casuals who don't know **** about boxing. Tyson is a bottom top-10 heavyweights and he's one of my favorite athletes of all time.

Tyson Fury vs Lennox Lewis in his prime would be a good fight. Two excellent boxers.

Tyson by stoppage. Wilder has been hurt before. Prime Tyson was fast on his feet, good at closing the distance, he will crouch down low and slip wilder's shots on the way in. Wilder isnt much of an inside fighter. The style match up favors Tyson. Tyson matches up badly with Foreman. Foreman would just push guys off him and then unload on them when they were off balance, this keeps Tyson at the range that favors foreman. Yes its an illegal move but ref basically just warns him and he does it anyways.

Agreed. Lewis was on top of his game and Tyson didn't train that much and didn't care that much either. I saw the fight and I felt Lewis might win, but I was hoping Tyson would win. Tyson won Rd 1 and was competitive until the 7th round where he slowed and Lewis threw those killer over-head right hands. For people in the know, it still took Lewis 8 rounds to beat a Tyson who wasn't in top form, but still tougher than most.

Not really into boxing like that, but Mike Tyson was extremely powerful and his definitely a better boxer than Wilder, as anyone who’s watched him fight knows, his not a great technical boxer, but that right hand sure is dynamite.

Let me just end this here. Mike Tyson would win by KO in the 1st round. There really is nothing left to say.

So his prime was basically a few years in his 20s? Why does he get this pass? Especially as a heavyweight whose prime are almost always in their 30s. And yeah, as Roger said most people certainly don't know **** about boxing.

Wilder does not have the tools to keep Tyson at bay. Wilder only has a powerful right hand that he needs to throw from long range. Wilder has no inside or mid range game.
Tyson has tons of power in both hands. His head movement will allow him to easily get inside on Wilder on finish him.

Impressive no doubt but this was against journeyman Reggie Gross.

*Side note, dude is doing three life sentences:

In 1989, he was imprisoned for three murders,[1] after a dispute over a game of cards.[citation needed] He is currently serving his three life sentences with two of them consecutive with the initial part of his sentence served at the maximum security prison in Edgefield, South Carolina.[1]

When interviewed in 2008 Gross was incarcerated at the US Penitentiary, Hazelton and had a 2014 parole hearing planned.[2]

In September 2019, Gross petitioned the US Court of Appeals as he believed that he was eligible for mandatory release after thirty years, as his crimes occurred before the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984 came into effect. The Court found in fact of the Bureau of Prisons, who argued that because he is serving two consecutive life sentences, he would in fact need to serve thirty years on each of his two life sentences before being eligible for mandatory parole.[3]

As of 2019 Gross was incarcerated at Terre Haute FCI in Indiana with a release date of November 1, 2048.[4]

Tyson always had problems with much taller fighters. And prime Tyson never would beat hall of famers. As he never beat hall of famers at their prime. That said. Wilder fights like a well trained NBA player. Tyson would likely edge out a victory. But boy o boy do some of you have Tyson on a pedestal.. Remember, he ducked an old George Foreman.

Let's see, wilder had the punchers chance but couldn't get a decision against fury even with 2 KD to his credit... such was the boxing class he received from pillow fisted (for his size) Fury in a fight that went the full distance. Againt Tyson, the window for wilder to land that miracle punch, and I don't say that lightly since even out-of-shape tyson took tremendous punishment from Lennox before getting KOd, reduces to what ? Against a faster, more powerful, with better defense Mike Tyson I'd say hes got 2 rounds tops, after that Mike ****s him 'till he loves him.

All sports progress over time. Trial and error progress the sport. The worst heavyweights of today beat the greats of the 80's.

The talent in boxing today just isnt what it was back in the late 80's early nineties. The sport itself has degraded. The guys that are on top right now wouldnt even be on the under-card of the top talent back then.

Wilder would be gone FAST. In fact he would never probably even get a fight with prime Tyson.
