    50 lbs weight loss over 18 months

    Wanted to go slow to gain muscle. I started mma training, would like to fight in an amateur tournament this summer. I think I have 30 to 40 lbs left till I'm at a low body fat. Does anyone think 8 lbs a month would be too drastic given how slow I've been losing weight.

    Nah - 2lb/week or ~8lbs/month will be fine until you get into the teens - usually low teens.

    Nah, keep going. I am down almost 60 lbs in 6 months. Not a lot left to go, 274 to 217, I don’t plan on slowing down.

    Nice work!. 2 lbs a week is around a 1,000 per day deficit which may or may not be sustainable. Much depends on your current cutting calories and how much room is left as you lean out. Your maintenance drops by around 100 cals a day for every 10 lbs of loss so you need to figure that in also. Low teens BF and keeping that deficit going can be problematic for some.
