    Unhappy So .... how many times can you get away with running oil low on a solid old v8

    I came back to San Diego and finally drove my truck after having my coworker keep it at his house for me ( I was gonna rent a room from him when I got back anyway).

    I don’t care that he drove it and it was leaking before I left it obviously but the oil got ran down to the point where when you go down hill or brake hard the light comes on.

    I’ve ran it this low before unkowningly and it was at about 2 quarts but the thing is I didn’t know that he’d be using it. Idk how long or how many miles have been Put on it with the level that low.

    I mean it took a little longer for the truck to warm up but it ran just as good as before. I went to fill it up down the street.

    Say what you want about dodge but that 360 is a small block LA engine. They’re pretty known for the power and abuse they can take.

    I don’t like neglecting my **** though.

    Think my engine is ****ed and i don’t know it yet?

    I’m 99% sure the leak is the main seal between my engine and tranny.

    Idk if i want to pay 1k to have it fixed.

    I know the feeling dont even stress about it and top it off.

    Dont repair the leak unless it gets really bad. Most rear mains end up leaking no matter what, that seal sees the most action as whenever the engine is running its being wore down.

    It’s just a small drip and isn’t that bad at all. I just didn’t check it before I left like an idiot.

    I didn’t think I’d be gone a month though , I’ll top it off tommorow first chance I get, it’s probably fine

    I put a rebuilt tranny in that truck and low key I’m more paranoid about that even after a year and a half than anything with the engine.

    My shift lever doesn’t always line up all the way and I’ve burnt it up a little when not shifting from P to D all the way at lights before.

    The first time it was still in N scared the absolute **** out of me and I thought the tranny had already given out.
