Thanks man. I'm looking to do the Bertil Roos racing school in April since they have a one day class right up the street from me at Palm Beach International Raceway. I managed to stay in one piece when my Dad bought me a new '04 Cobra when I was 19 and in college. It had full bolt ons at 600 miles. This is obviously in another league entirely but I definitely am not a serious risk taker behind the wheel. I'm coming from a Gen V Viper which honestly felt a bit tame to me. I could have done a turbo kit on the Viper and been at ~1300whp but this is the route I took.

    2. Have Pro driver fine tune the car for a nice neutral set up or whatever OP prefers.
    3. Do a few HPDE schools to learn the car. It's not like this will be a DD but it would be beneficial to learn the car and its limits.
    4. If he does track days, I'm sure he'd be running proper tires/wheels and not street meat

I'm excited to see this build. Definitely unique and I love this car. Have a few that show up to our local C&C meets from time to time.
Yeah I'm definitely going to run Toyo r888Rs all around, which everyone raves about. No doubt it will still be able to light them up, but a good tire is key. What Ultimas have you seen at your C&C? I've never seen one in person and I *think* the only driving RS models are in Asia and Europe. When I ordered mine in November, there were only 10 orders to the States so far. None complete as far as I know. There are GTRs and EVOs sparsely around the country though.

A supercharged car is more driveable in this type of platform because the power delivery is much more linear than a turbo setup. Having all the power hit hard in the high RPMs could cause loss of traction and make it difficult to drive on a track where you're mid corner and it builds boost.

Haha I think the closest anyone other than me will get to driving it is on Forza if they release it. They have the Ultima Evolution on there and it flies.

NASCAR drivers also have a neck harness/brace, and helmet. These keep them from smashing into the steering wheel. The danger is your head bopping around and into stuff, seatbelt or harness isn't particularly relevant to that danger.

They have the HANS along with crash seats and harnesses that control crash activity. Structures that limit crash damage. Are we talking Ryan now? Nomex and many layers of fire protection now.

Very nice. Yeah I'll be taking mine to Cars and Coffee Palm Beach when I'm done. It's only about 10 mins away from my house and one of the largest in the country. We get Paganis, Koenigseggs, Bugattis, and every version of the latest Lambo, Ferrari, etc etc. Really awesome show to go to.

The Superlite Coupe is awesome from an engineering standpoint, but I just don't like the look of it. Ultima has more of a rich history too imo, but I do wish they would do something awesome and modern like the aluminum monocoque of the SLC.

    Heads, Cam, ported supercharger time...

I went ahead and ordered a Stage 3 LT5 cam from Weapon X motorsports, which comes as a whole kit complete with dual springs, C5R timing chain, Johnson 2126 race lifters, ARP head studs, rocker trunion kit, etc etc.

I also boxed up the heads and supercharger to have them sent for porting.

I've never taken apart an engine before but found an awesome how-to on Corvette Forum. It wasn't difficult at all and you can see why people LS swap everything under the sun.

    What I started with:

    Finished:

It's gonna be badass. Not sure if you mentioned it already, but you should definitely upload the build process on Youtube.

Same thing a buddy of mine said. It's so easy to work on too since everything is so accessible. Crazy how simple these motors are. One thing that surprised me was that there was a sticker/label for some part that was loose in the intake, ready to go down a runner. Also there was a bolt missing on one of the valve covers. It must have been made on a Friday...

Chevy guys- thoughts as to the best? There are so many available products, etc for these motors.

It must have been made on a Friday...
At GM, everyday is a friday.

    Looking forward to seeing more.
Unaware on the ultima and factory 5.

My dream is a 1985 Mercedes Hammer replica with either the m156 or m159 engine

I did a video of the unboxing of the motor and am doing a full vid/timelapse of the breakdown of the engine, cam install, rebuild. I'm going to upload the videos closer to the time when the car ships, so that I can release videos every week hopefully. But I'm definitely documenting the process.

Ultima is a British company founded by Lee Noble. They have been designing and producing kits since the early 80s and at one time partnered with McLaren to use an Ultima chassis for the development of the McLaren F1's powertrain. My engine is going in their latest model, which I specced it to look like this:

Here's their older model on the Top Gear track-

Factory Five is an American company most known for producing Shelby Cobra replica kits.
