30, realizing your a borderline failure/bored of career

In short this year I realised that my social skills are average-below average and unless improved I will likely never get further career advancement beyond middle manager.

I am a middle manager now and bored to death of my career. I see many of my co workers that are not very intelligent get better assignments than me because they are more chatty/talk more despite the fact they have little experience or are not that intelligent.

I have seen older men 45+ that are middle managers same job as me and are miserable and bored. Some of these guys are very intelligent but just not good looking or sociable therefore will never get further promotion. They clock in and clock out and generally hate their work life.

Should I switch careers to something else? Im thinking Nursing it pays well and has many options to specialize in that are complicated. Plus as a male by default I would be viewed superior to my coworkers since they are mostly female.

I wouldn’t count on female nurses thinking you are superior. They get enough attention from doctors.

The nurses wont. The doctors, patients and possibly management will likely though.

    Middle manager of what exactly?

I am an Engineer and am considering Physical therapy or P.A school. I just have to go back to college and take Bio I and II and Anatomy I and II AND take the GRE and volunteer. Have you considered going back to college perhaps?

Have you thought about nurse practitioner? You just need to be a RN for 2 years and then you can do a masters while working as a nurse, after that you can become a family NP. They do the EXACT same work as a doctor.

I would do that, but I don't want to spend more years in nursing school and don't want to become a registered nurse for a few years.

Beware though, cleaning **** and giving people sponge baths may make you want to go back to Engineering. Have you thought of that? I thought about switching to NP and then becoming a practitioner but the thought of going from a cozy office job to taking care of the elderly made me want to stay an Engineer. I am still considering P.T, PA or OT school though

Damn you're 30 and a middle manager? That's pretty damn good. I don't see what you're complaining about? Just go get a paycheck and go home. That's what I do. I don't even try to climb the corporate ladder.

How low is your gpa? If not terrible I would consider pa ,o.t or or p.t school. That’s what I am personally doing right now.

Have you tried becoming a certified personal trainer? Make a lot of money until 40 and try to build a personal trainer brand perhaps. You just have to get nasm certified and you could make 40000 a year, but actually enjoy your job.

This reminds me that a lot of self development coaches say they find it too bad social skills and conversation skills aren't taught in school, or just improvement to overall communication, not enough emphasis is placed on it in our formative years.

it's been my sarcastic mindset for a while now that if it became part of the education system it should be mandatory for men but optional for women, since the burden of opening your mouth first always falls on the guys shoulders.
