A bulk adds 15 to 20 lbs. A cut loses 10 to 15 lbs. How the hell to choose clothes sizes?
I ride bikes a lot in the city and my pants are all getting shredded in the crotch. I ordered a pair from Swrve. Some stretch, got slim fit (not skinny lol). They are a bit tight in the waist, and thighs have maybe barely an inch to spare.
I plan on bulking another 5 or 6 lbs, then cut 15. I know my waist will slim up a bit but idk about these next couple months. What to do? I could exchange an inch up in waist, thighs, or both. The jeans are made for cyclists (hence slim fit actually fits my thighs) so designed to last a good bit of rubbing. I don't wanna size up and then have them looking baggy or falling off when I cut down to 170.

This is a constant problem for me.
I need to have pants in 32, 34 and 36 inch waist which is a pain because it's a waste of money to have so much stuff that only fits from 160-170 then other stuff that only fits from 170-180 etc.. I stopped buying pants that didn't have any stretch to them.
For dress shirts I found that just increasing the neck size to work pretty good.
Like 15.5 neck and 32 inch sleeves for when I'm thin and 16 inch neck and 33 inch sleeves for when I'm bigger.
Would love to hear others experiences on the subject.Recent best lifts

I'm trying to lean bulk and stay in my 32-inch waist jeans. It's going pretty well with my waist. Unfortunately my butt and thighs might force the issue. I'm glad I buy Levi's and not an expensive brand. Really isn't a big deal to switch to a different cut or size. That's my advice - don't spend a lot if you are trying to bulk or cut.

Here we go again. Boy you guys are all so huuuge that clothes dont fit! In for pics of legs so big, pants cant fit them. (Coming from a dude weighing 170 180 lbs. )
Here is a tip....Stop trying to wear abercrombie and fitch teenage skinny jeans. Anything pants with the word "slim" in it is not going to fit. Get over it.
Also....News flash for you. Men dont have wide hip girdles like women. It is actually pretty normal for a man to have his thighs touch. Your thighs rubbing does not mean you are huuuuge.
Also, I can swing 25-30lbs and same pants still fit. Unless you are trying to wear your clothes painted on skinny, 20lbs is not a big swing. Stop trying to wear skinny jeans and shop in the mens department.
Or....just do one of your 3000cal workouts a few days in a row and you can fit in the dress size that makes you happy.RAW lifts

WTF is your problem?
To spell it out...
(1) I'm not huuuge. I never said anything about being huuuge. You're the one acting insecure despite you actually being "huuuge" I have pics on here proving said not huuuugeness.
(2) As everyone else seems to have understood without explaining, I am not complaining about size, but changing sizes. You don't understand of course, being several years beyond large size swings, and already "huuuge".
(3) I said slim (aka jean-speak for not-fat). I did not say skinny (jean-speak for 15 year old emo). Regular is serious fat boy or bodybuilder territory in which I'm not quite sure I should yet tread. I assumed anyone here in the over 35 shops for themselves and therefore knows the difference.
(4) "Thighs rubbing" ROFLMAO have you been hanging with too many insecure chicks lately? I said rubbing. As in the jeans rub the saddle 5000 times per leg per hour and wear down the crotch. You wouldn't understand, because you never do more cardio than a set of squats and can't comprehend moving your "huuuge" body for several miles at a time.
(5) I am similar in that I can swing weight pretty far before waist size is an issue. Been doing pretty lean bulks and never had trouble with 30 waist or 32 for some brands until now, so the waist may not be a big deal considering I anticipate a lot of my epic unbelievable 3000 calorie cardio sessions in the near future. But there's also thigh size, and hips and butt. It's just a rant that most here probably can empathize with a little. Honestly on the one hand you're probably right, I may just be graduating from normal slim territory into larger person "regular" and it probably won't really look like I'm wearing old man baggy pants. The problem is lots of "regular" are straight leg actual baggy pants.2022 -- Just maintaining and doing the van life

Truthfully, I think it is you that is more of the minority than me. I am like most people here. As an adult, I was out of shape. Last time I saw 160lbs I was a teenager. Even in high school, I could not wear 'slim' jeans. Playing hockey since I was 5 gave me thighs and a butt.
Anyway....no I seriously did not know any person besides a pre-pubescent boy can wear 'slim' jeans. No dig....just serious. Prior to getting back in shape a decade ago, I was 205 but with a 36" waist.....so "slim" fitting jeans were not anything I ever looked at.
Congrats on working out. If your post was serious....
I have two comments:
-dont wear jeans while riding a bike.
-If you keep building muscle, most 'slim' clothes will no longer be an option. Except for shirts. "Slim" cut button downs work nicely for casual shirts when you get bigger but are lean and are not required to button the neck. Slim pants.....not so much.
A good pair of jeans to try might be Levi 541. THey are stretch denim, and made for bigger hips and thighs vs regular cut jeans. I wear these. I buy one waist size up whereas normally I need a min 36" waist to get butt and thighs to fit. I still need a belt, but if anyone has trouble with jeans, these are best off the rack option I have found. I am not really all that 'big'. Truly big guys really do have trouble with clothes. I can buy pretty much everything off the rack except for formal clothes which I have had custom made or tailored. Thank goodness I dont wear a lot of suits!RAW lifts

I agree with you, like your response. I'm pretty much the same way. Clothes off the rack fit me comfortably. I have no need for formal wear, if I did I'd go get fitted for something decent. If the waistline in my pants gets too loose I can always tighten my belt. I prefer clothes to fit loose anyway,

I'll take a look at the 541s.
Jeans and bikes historically haven't mixed well, of course. But fabrics are getting fancier and it's possible to comfortably ride in stretchy jeans. In my racing days I rode in kit all the time. I still do for more serious rides. I've fallen in with the SF bike ride crew and we do a lot of shorter (for me) rides, hang out, go to the bar after for burgers and beer. It's nice to ditch the lycra racer look for these rides. But the rides are still 20-30 miles, which wears hard on most stretch jeans.2022 -- Just maintaining and doing the van life

Levi's are way too crunchy for me. Comfortable, but still too tight in athletic fit is lucky brand. The stretch stuff is very good. For daily wear, since I tried wrangler 21 jeans, I've never looked back. They fit my 25s just fine, even with a 32 waist. They're made for bull riding.

Another good choice is Levi's 550. Plenty of thigh room, and they taper down to the ankle so they don't look like bell bottoms or even straight legs.
American Eagle Outfitters has a great selection of stretchy jeans -- and not just the skinny ones. They have straight-leg styles that flex nicely when you need them to, but don't look painted on the rest of the time. Comfortable as hell. The material also holds up really well. I have pairs that are at least five years old that aren't fraying at the cuffs or crotch.
