(CNSNews.com) - "If we believe in the future of this country, if we believe in our children, we have got to believe in our educators," Sen. Bernie Sanders told a CNN-hosted town hall in New Hampshire on Thursday night.
The 2020 Democrat presidential hopeful called for a "revolution in education," including teacher salaries that start at $60,000 a year.

Sanders:Sanders said he would triple funding for schools in economically disadvantaged areas, "because in America, public schools should provide quality education to all, not just to those who live in wealthy communities and have a strong property tax base.
"Number two, my goal -- it's a radical goal, but this is what I believe -- my goal is to make sure that within a few years, every teacher in America earns at least $60,000 a year."
Sanders called it "quite unbelievable" that in New Hampshire, "there are teachers starting off in certain districts making less than $29,000 a year.
"And I can tell you, having visited South Carolina on many occasions, you got great teachers there who have been in the profession 20 or 30 years. They are leaving the profession because they can't make an income. You have young people going into teaching with student debt of $50,000, $100,000 a year."
"I want the best and the brightest college students to say with pride, man, when I graduate, I am going to become a teacher, because it's one of the best and most important jobs available. I am going to be impacting the lives in my career of hundreds, if not thousands of young people. What can be more important than that?
But bottom line is, we have got to change our attitude toward education. We live in a country which can provide literally hundreds of millions of dollars to great basketball players and football players and baseball players. And yet we have teachers who have to take money out of their own pockets to buy school supplies and who are leaving the profession because of inadequate salaries.
So if we believe in the future of this country, if we believe in our children, we have got to believe in our educators. And I certainly will make education a major priority in this country."

I am all for paying teachers more, but Bernie is bribing every sector there is with free and higher pay.
It all boils down to what Bernie is all about and that is he is a fraud. He says he wants to transform America. He definitely would, but in a very bad way.
I will repeat this for as long as I can: There is no evidence of any country in history that has succeeded with socialist policies. Also, Bernie's claimed Democratic Socialism is only socialism re-branded because he plans to nationalize as many industries as possible and he has nothing but FAIL as part of his resume in his own State of Vermont on his efforts to implement its form of Medicare for All.
Bernie is the biggest snake-oil salesman and fraud of our time.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

One of you US leftists need to stop having other countries citizens pushing voters away from you. Lmao.
A Canadian, pushing for the US to be more like Sweden. FFS these are the moments you realize technology isn't all rainbow and sunshine. You give a platform to these lunatics.
Also lol @ "international metrics." Okay, well once everyone starts to stop trying to come here over ALL those other countries, I'll take that into consideration. The US remains the most sought after country to live. Bye and no thanks!USMC 0311

Exactly. If anyone doesn't know, Halfway is from Britain.
What kind of answer is that? Of course Bernie isn't calling for America to become Venezuela. Most leaders (not all) who started socialism or socialist policies in the aforementioned countries I listed thought socialism or socialist policies would be great. But, they ALL failed. Bernie wants to get rid of entire industries and replace them with government-run entities.
BTW, Europe's taxes are sky-high compared to the Unites States and the US is massively larger and much more complicated.
Your answer is that Bernie would be different. Bernie has no evidence of success anywhere in the history of the world. He does not want to be like Europe. That is not his model.
p.s. There is no Fox News material in any of my posts. Just real talk. Yours is BS. I ask you for evidence and your answer is that I am using Fox News info - LMAO. Cop out. You have no answers.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

Teachers who work traditional calendars don’t get paid for the 3 months of summer they are not teaching unless the school offers a 12 month option where there 9 month salary is paid over 12 months. And yes they do get fall and spring breaks but they do not get typical vacation days that most full time professional jobs offer. And in some places the substitutes pay comes out of their salary when they take a sick day. I am not arguing one way or another on more pay. And yes my wife is a teacher and she loves it.

That’s not how it works at all, teachers are paid an annual salary determined by union contract and can decide if they’d like to receive paychecks for twelve months or just for 9. The amount of their annual salary is not affected.
Your union is incredibly weak if the substitutes pay is deducted from their own, which is prob not legal. Also teachers get sick pay so how would that even happen?
