Just heard that Optimum Nutrition pulled out of the Arnold Expo. Crazy! They were a fixture there...Doesn't look good.

I think it was 2 years ago maybe? Both ON and BB.com had pulled out. It's expensive, and the companies that have their set base don't see the need to spend that kind of money. ON was probably dropping a +$1mil on the Arnold annually, and likely not getting good returns.

I thought about heading out this year also. I haven't been out in the past 2 years but went every year before that for 7-8 years.
The Expo is just so crowded. I know that's a lame, stupid comment but it really is. I mean bathroom lines are crazy, everything is so expensive, hotels are nightmares and the whole thing has become such a rat race. Maybe it's me getting older and grouchier in my old age, LOL!

My feelings exactly with the main expo here, Bodypower. Way too busy, stupidly expensive to get in and queues to get into queues. I know supp companies pay a fortune to be there but quite often their products are more expensive than they are bought regularly online, plus most UK-based companies will have ‘Bodypower expo weekend’ special discounts on so there’s really no benefit to going unless you get your kicks from long lines of 18-20 year olds who’ve started leathering the gear 6 weeks after joining the gym.
The hodge twins were over here a few years ago and it was a 3-4 hour queue for a photo op. No thanks.Strong & Unstable

It'll be my 10th year, be there Thursday-Sunday. I go to the Expo early to wander around, then hang around the stage mostly, or go to the periphery events like the powerlifting meets, etc. Leave early to relax before hitting the night shows.
I don't generally wait in any of the long lines anymore. I've had a lot of chance meetings with athletes and had some really good conversations. It's definitely still a great event all around I think... as long as you know what you're in for and show up prepared!2020 Olympia Bound | NPC WPD Nationally Qualified | 2018 Arnold Amateur WPD Top 3 | 2x WPD Pro World Champion (INBA/DFAC)

I read something that the citizens of Columbus had started a petition afraid that all the travellers would bring the coronavirus into an previously unexposed location. I get the concerns, but I don't think that Ohio handled the situation well. I hope all the brands sue them for their loses. There should have at least been a PSA released as soon as it was a possibility, and not waited until 48 hours before it kicked off.

Yeah 48 hours before is terrible. I feel bad for the people who were traveling there that couldn't get refunded. One person had drove 18 hours Monday to Tuesday n had planned to drive the remaining 6 hours Wednesday before hearing about it get cancelled

The Arnold was definitely a unique experience this year. I went down Thursday as usual, and trying to figure out what was on and what wasn't was nuts. I go more for the actual sports and events anymore - but even that was a challenge and took some string pulling

The bay at the far end was open, and all of the sports were condensed into that area, the rest of the bays were closed off. The center itself was open to the public. The powerlifting, fencing, etc, that happened in all the other rooms took place as normal. There were staff sitting at every entrance to every room looking for wristbands or passes. And there were cops/agents from just about every agency possible all over the place.
