    Question 275-> 300 in 3 months?

    So I’ll keep it short. I’m a senior in high-school and my bench is currently 275. It’s been my goal to hit 300 before I graduate for two years now. Do you think I can make it? And if so I’d love any tips from very experienced lifters. ( I’m 6’2 180 lbs)
    Oh and also I graduate in 3 1/2 months

    That’s a lot for bench. I don’t think that’s gonna happen unless you have a severe technique issue that is holding you back.

    Definitely possible. Eat enough to be 200 lbs by graduation. Bench 2-4 times per week depending on volume and intensity. On your main bench day, that is only do it once per week, work up to a top single or double before the rest of the workout.

    I’d say if he just started benching then it would be possible. But it seems like he’s been benching for awhile. If this is possible, why wouldn’t you be able to add 25 pounds the next 3 months? Then 25 pounds the next? And the next? You’d be well on your way to a WR.

    Most people dont prioritize bench WAY above everything else in their life. Try that for 3 months and see where your bench goes. With the OP starting at 275 and only being 17-18 this is definitely possible without prioritizing it even that high.

    Also, at 25 lbs every 3 months, the OP would still need 5 years to reach WR bench. Obviously it isn't linear due to diminishing returns, but that means the beginning is faster.

    Basically all Im saying is 25 lbs in 3 months is definitely possible if he makes it a high priority right now.

    There are two ways to reach this goal IMO and either options arent what I would recommend:

    1. Eating lots of food and a major surplus calorie wise. Weight moves weight. Even if you don’t gain any muscle and all you gain is fat, you’ll be able to add lbs to the bar.

    2. Get on the juice. You’ll be back to the newbie gains and even then I’m not sure if you add 25lbs to your bench.

    Sounds like you are a somewhat intermediate and if so, you can expect gains every 2 weeks or month if programming and nutrition are on point.

    Not sure if it’s possible my man but 25 lbs is more than doable naturally in 5-6 months

    OP is same weight as me and 4" taller, so probably a good bit less muscle mass and worse leverages. OP at 180 is like if I weighed 150 lbs. That's 14 lbs less than me after 5 years of bike racing and trying to lose mass. It's endurance athlete skinny. I'd be pretty surprised if someone looking like a marathon runner came in and benched 300.

    He may have been benching for a while but without gaining much mass.

    It's very possible to bench 300 from 275 in 3 months. Eat in a surplus and dont just bench. But, also focus on assistance lifts for bench and some accessories to improve upon your weak points in the bench press.

    Goodluck.
