    Skinny fat + Bulk

    Im skinny fat and i was wondering instead of doing a body recomposition, could i do a regular bulk? My logic behind this is if i have stubborn fat but i am also skinny, could I do a bulk to gain muscle to correct my muscle:fat to give me a muscular physique. Would a dirty bulk work or add fat to my stomach or chest?

    First, yes, the more muscle you gain the better your body will look even if you don’t lose any fat. I commonly walk around with mid to upper teen body fat percentage but look better now than I did before I used to lift when, at times, I’d have a lower body fat percentage but less muscle.

    I’ve seen many people on here claim to be “skinny fat” but most are just skinny with no muscle. Your profile says you’re 5’8”, 125 pounds and 14 years old. If you’re 14 you should not be recomping or doing bulk and cut cycles. You should simply be gaining weight as your body and muscle is still growing, without putting on extra fat.

    No, I don't agree
    Do a very lean bulk or body recomposition.
    The resemblance between a lean bulk and a dirty bulk (in most, most cases) is that you put the same amount of muscles.
    The difference is that you put more fat when dirty bulk. You will hate it and you will do a cut and you will lose most of the muscles gained during that dirty bulk.

    People tend to believe that "the more I eat, the more muscle I put"
    Nope!
    If you are on a caloric surplus of 500 calories vs a caloric surplus of 2000 calories, it doesn't mean that 1500 more means more muscles. Usually, it's more fat. Maybe there are some genetic freaks, i don't know. I assume it's not your case since you are skinny fat.

    You could eat at maintenance and monitor your gym performance. When it appears that your lifts are stalling (unable to either add weight to the bar or do more reps with the same weight) then make small increases in calories to see if it helps the process along.

    This is not recomping because if you are at maintenance or above, you won't lose fat - but your idea of gaining muscle to contribute to long term physique goals is sound enough - maybe you can do a dedicated cut further down the line once you have more muscle.

    Don't "dirty bulk" though. It's not worth it unless you are severely underweight.

    What is your current weight. I doubt you are skinny 'fat'. Maybe skinny untrained...
