It appears to me he was following the road. It was in a narrow canyon. Vis probably dropped and when he came out of the canyon over the built up area that sort of widened out, he started a descent and a turn in what he assumed was a wider non canyon area trying to reverse course into what he had come though. But, the built up area was smaller then he thought, and he was going too fast and outflew his visibility flying into rising terrain.

No. The 101 is a huge 4 lane highway on each side. Giant highway.

The mountains/hills are on both sides and very well known to anyone who has driven it or flown over it.

A lot of people saying he was just a basketball player; this guy has had an impact on generations of kids man. It’s not about the basketball, it’s about how hard he worked at it, he showed what it meant to want to be great, that work ethic and dedication was something he helped instill in me along with my parents. But in the big picture it was a man with his daughter, and 7 other people who died a horrific tragic death. That’s what really matters here, Take away the basketball and fame and if you can’t feel for a situation like this then truly something is off with you. I hate seeing anyone getting hurt or dying needlessly. Even that Iranian plane incident had me sad, people losing this beautiful thing we call life. We are so lucky to have been blessed by it.

I know this is a Kobe thread but i would also like to pay tribute to another family that has been devastated from this crash. John, his wife and his daughter (far right) were also killed in this crash. John and Kobe's daughters were on the same team and Kobe would frequently fly him and his family to games. It was stated that the girls and the adults were flying from Orange County to Thousand Oaks to attend a game.



God damn, that must suck losing 3 of you immediate family just like that.

In reality, the accuser was confirmed to have had a failed suicide attempt the week of the event (admittedly by her) to guilt her ex bf. She was a diagnosed schizophrenic and on anti-psychotic meds. I lived in LA at the time and there was LOTS of local media investigative reporting that discovered she had been the accuser in other dismissed rape cases. Of course left leaning google won't return any of those stories now.

Dude was a family man, unlike 99.9% of pro athletes. He was intelligent, spoke multiple languages, spent a huge amount of time on charity and was often accused of being "too clean" for endorsements before the bullchit accusations.

Guys don't grow up in a healthy home, marry at 20, raise their kids lovingly, have NO history (before or after), then decide to just once rape a chick at a hotel. But #metoo and #hottake, right?
