Poll: How often do you cry

    Title

How often do you cry, and is it for physical pain or emotional pain.

I was thinking about this at work wondering how often the average man cries.

Haven't cried for over a decade. If I ever get really sad I just feel apathetic and don't want to do anything, never feel an urge to cry or anything like that.

only time i cried in the past decade was when i was having progressively worse tendon pain in my arm and one day it was like someone was twisting a knife in my arm for almost 2 hours, nothing i did would ease the pain and it got so painful i shed a few tears.

Fractured my back in 3 places and got a TBI and proudly never took prescription medication. I know I have an addictive personality and i've seen too many ruin their lives off that stuff (but clearly at that time they would have prescribed me whatever I wanted). Took aleve i think twice while in the hospital for a couple weeks.

aw fuk. Glad you're okay? I was in outpatient therapy for 6 months and saw the world, all with TBI's. From people like me -- seemingly okay -- to people paralyzed from the neck down. And of course these are just the people who survived.

My neurologist said something like 'once you've seen a TBI.....you've seen a TBI' meaning, they're all vastly different.

I'm sorry brother Best of luck with that all. I got lucky... I'm told i'm a 'success story' at Barrow Neurological. Thankfully i live close and got in to one of the top neurology hospitals, but in reality i was just lucky. could have been much worse. Balance was completely fuked, had additional blindspots in my vision (enough to where i couldn't legally drive), and short term memory. While already bad, went to chit. Generally speaking. But yeah as i said and as you've seen it could have been soooooo much worse. My back got better weirdly quickly.

Good luck bro. At least we're still here.

ive endured a lot of physical pain. had my chest cavity beaten once where my entire chest was a deep black purple. was by far the most painful thing ive ever endured. far worse than when i broke a bone. had to sleep on my back for two weeks. i chit you not. my friend javy when he seen it thought i was crazy to go through it.

physical pain has never bothered me. emotional pain has always been my weakness

I voted "monthly" but that was a mistake, I meant to put WEEKLY. Probably averages to once or twice per fortnight. (Now THERE's a rather forgotten word!) Closer to weekly than to monthly.

Now, as for the things that are most likely to cause me to cry:
    1. Most likely, from experiencing exceptional/extreme beauty or magnificence. For example, the first time I saw the Grand Canyon, or the magnificence of the Sistine Chapel, in person.
    2. Very sentimental moments from, say, a movie or video, or from reading. This can include something that is extremely uplifting.
    3. Reading/seeing, and empathetically experiencing, somebody's catharsis or defining moment.
    4. Seeing, reading about, or thinking about extreme cruelty. For example, nearly anything about The Holocaust is likely to make me cry...or screaming children torn away from their parents and put into cages...

I can't remember even which DECADE it was when I last cried about any misfortunes or pains of my own, and three years ago I was going through some quite-debilitating pain from sciatica. My tears will be elicited by somebody or something else, rather than something going on inside of me. My three primary reasons for crying are "good tears."

EDIT: THE GRAND CANYON?? Oh my God, I didn't see what was just above my post (in #16) when I was posting this, because I posted before reading any comments.

    Wow.

I voted weekly, although I don't really cry every week. Definitely more than once a month though.

Cried at my great gmas funeral about 4 years ago. Cried for a few days over a couple of weeks when my coworker bro took his life 2 years ago and I felt failure in my life at the same time.

Really only tear up couple of times a year if I watch an amazing move or show, whether it's sad, happy, or I just enjoy the fook out of it in every way possible

I cried after watching 1917 this weekend. Happened to also be my late father's birthday.

Never honestly, although I’m not opposed to it if my body can make it happen when I’m really sad.

Honestly havent cried from sadness Since I was probably 14 or so. Gambling basically removed all my emotions and Im essentially numb now. Seeing your entire lifes savings go down the drain for literally no reason other than your own delusions does something to you

EDIT: i lied. When I was 17 my appendix exploded, and because I was so septic they had to cut through my whole stomach to fix it. I remember crying and screaming telling the nurses to kill me cuz the pain because even the slightest breathe felt like I was being gutted with a machete. Holy phuck that chit sucked
