"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

most likely their body goes on survival mode and tries to maintain the fat/burn slowly, causing that person to have no energy throughout the day, and in the end, not lose much weight

I did this when I was 13. I went from 110 lb to 88 lb and almost dieded.

they end up binging every second day. Hell i can't go long without binging on 1500. It feels like i eat nothing but calories disappeared. For a past month i'm sticking for a week then 1 day binge and here we go 1800 on average. Not a single % of fat was lost that day.

Not really. Impossible to lose more than about a kilo of fat in 3 days, takes much longer consistent efforts to lose significant amounts of fat.

Pure math. 1 kilo of fat is about 7000 calories, so if your daily calorie expenditure is about 2000 calories, and you restrict to 800, then you're only creating a calorie deficit of 1200 calories per day, therefore would take a whole week even at a really low calorie diet to lose a kilo of fat.

When you see people bragging about rapid weight loss, it's not fat they're losing, it's fluid. Dropping a couple of laxatives or diuretic pills would be equally effective (as in, not really at all).

That's why it takes several months of cutting to see real results.

    i did it.
not really eating 800 cals but net cals with cardio where around that.

Lost a lot of fat but also lost a lot of muscle, ended up 130lbs looking malnourished.

Currently 155lbs after around 3 years of being 130lbs.

If your maths is correct then it's possible to lose a kilo in just over 4 days on a daily expenditure of 2500, so maybe not impossible for some at the extreme of the scale especially assuming they're very overweigt to start with.

Not something I would ever recommend to the average joe just getting started. If you have a firm grasp of dieting it's something that can be used short term and I do suggest throwing in a weekly refeed. I've done it a few times and no longer than 3 weeks. Obviously if a person has more to lose they're drop a good amount of weight.

Stop trying to "lose weight fast". Unless you're at a weigh-in and need to employ some extreme short-term measures to make the cut there is no reason you should be looking for shortcuts. Eat healthy, eat enough calories to lose 1 to 2 lbs per week and just live your life. Eventually you'll reach your goal and it'll be a lot easier to maintain.

I think 1,200 is the bare minimum for anyone. (Daily Calories = 10 X Target Weight) is probably the lowest cut anyone should go. Example = 170 Pounds Target = 1,700 Calories. Then adjust after a few weeks as needed. What do you think of this Kimmy? You're the expert.

Yes but I wouldn't call one kilo a "chit ton of weight"

And if someone is very overweight to start with, they probably need to lose a lot more than that, meaning they need to embark on a diet they can actually stick to for a decent period of time.

Aiming for a calorie deficit of 500/day is far more sustainable and realistic in the long term, (ie calorie deficit of 500, not daily intake of 500 calories)

Especially given that a smaller mass body uses less energy than a larger one, so once someones lost a significant amount of fat that same diet is going to become permanent just to maintain the lower bmi.

My metabolism is way too slow for that formula.

At 1850 calories I'd quickly stall.

I dunno , I never went that low

There was a time when I was like 17 or so that I did psmf on the weekends while cutting and I got pretty lean in a month and half

    I went from 15-17% to like 10%

it was weird seeing my abs for the first time , I had never seen them up until that point

I didn’t get cravings and binge because I only did it twice a week

After I leaned down though and finished I started binging thinking I was gonna actually gain anything noticeable and ended up gaining it back :/

maybe you just aren't good at counting calories? possible? what you think is 1,850 is really 2,500+. you don't have a sedentary job so you should be burning calories like crazy - especially relative to the average office jockey. 1,850 for a target weight of 185 should easily work for you if you're counting correctly. you're eating a lot more calories than you think i bet. we tend to always underestimate our calories consumed and overestimate out calories burned.

Surprised by responses in this thread.

I've always considered losing up to 2lb/week a reasonable goal for someone looking to cut (depending on certain factors). This would be about 7000 calories per week, or a 1000 calorie per day deficit. At the end of the day, you will lose more FFM on a bigger deficit.. but the ratio of fat loss to FFM loss at a higher deficit is way to good to pass up on considering how much faster you can reduce fat down.

I'd easily suggest an 800 calorie deficit, provided it gives the person enough calories to get in adequate proteins and quality food to keep up energy levels. Will definitely be dieting this way two or three times this year from 15% ish BF

Edit: This is how I see it (figure below)
