The ratio of increasing the likelihood of overtraining vs the minor increase in cosmetic gains is not worth it to an intelligent person.

If you think theres room for more lifts, youre not adding overload fast enough. If you honestly have that much energy then add 10lbs on both sides instead of 5 that day.

You really dont get the system and how it works if you cant comprehend this basic principle.

    It's suboptimal.
Part of the beauty of the program is that it can be done in 30-40 minutes and doesn't overwhelm the noobie.

This allows them to focus on mastering the basic exercises that will be a part of every decent program here on out.

When I was training my sister I started throwing in auxiliaries at week 6. We did one reset. By month 4 she was ready to move to a more complete program.

Noob programs aren't about pure efficiency, but finding the ideal balance of:
    - Progress
    - minimize pain
    - establishing a routine
    - Solidifying form and reducing confusion.
    -Minimize setbacks.

Finding that magic spot is hard. SS is pretty damn close.

People just need to let it go once they have outgrown it.

Starting Strength was an internet meme created by fat neckbeards to place emphasis on "strength" over aesthetics and allow for insane amounts of food intake. It was intended to destroy the potential aesthetics of non fat neckbeards, and make fatsos feel cool for being able to dealift and squat high numbers, while being morbidly obese. I can't believe that people still fall for it.

I ran the program for 2-3 months. Doing the right up that you sent me. The only thing I didn’t do was power cleans. Everything else was by the books. Then moved on to the beginner power building routine and back to PPL. Starting strength isn’t meant to be ran more than a few months and I don’t think it was a waste of time. Probably programs I could have done that were a better use of time but SS was okay. Ignited a love for squats and made my legs strong.

But I literally looked like a fat fukk T rex with oversized legs and tiny arms. It's not a meme I lived it. Starting Strength is a squat program.

Just realized he competed equipped. Does that influence training style?

Yes, but in the opposite way from how he lifts.

When you squat, even in single ply, if you do a ripetard squat you're literally working against the suits leverage

starting strength is a good program for females if you want oversized legs and DYEL upper body.....

these are his totals (keep in mind this is in single ply)

gonna assume that single ply adds about 100 to bench, 125 to his squat and probably nothing to his deadlift

so his raw totals (just an assumption) was probably around a 300 bench, 500 squat and a 635 deadlift at 220 lbs as an estimate. But people get varying boosts from equipped so it's hard to say. Also keep in mind it's a powerlifting meet with stricter form. But it was equipped single ply so IDK about judging. Honestly not that bad totals (his bench is pretty poverty) but obviously guys even at the 74 kg weight class would smoke that total nowadays. But this was 30+ years ago.

Nope not at all. You don’t even lift that heavy lol.

Maybe if you did SS properly with light weights building up power safely from the start your wouldn’t have broke your arm. You still don’t get how the program works everything out perfectly.

Instead you got cocky and think you know better and didn’t respect the basics.

Thought you were more advanced than you are.

Kept thinking you’re intermediate when you still haven’t passed beginner stage of lifting.

But keep thinking your guys are cool doing weird **** instead of the basics like normal people do and actually look good lol.

It’s not rocket science. It’s not a coincedence the people hating on the program all look like crap or are tatted up if you click on their profiles.

Not tatted up and I definitely don't look like crap. My problem with it is that the diet is retarded and there is far too much emphasis on legs. It is a bad program for aesthetics. It is good for increasing your squat and deadlift numbers, which most people don't give a fk about (except for powerlifters who have better programs they could follow as well).

Starting strength is the way to go for most people, the only problem with it is there isn't enough pulling, specifically upper back. The criticism about it squat focused and making you fat isn't valid because being squat heavy and getting fat is the only way you're getting strong as a natural with average genetics.

    I think it's a good strength program.

It's a very poor bodybuilding program.

I did it for 3 months, followed by Madcows w assistance for the last 3 months (weighted dips & chins, a bit of calf, Lat raises)

Ended up with ginormous ass & thighs, poverty shoulders.

Spent the next 18 months fixing 6 months of SS imbalances.

Now in the dbell & cable only crew. Far better for bbing. I might use a barbell for 6 weeks as a change up a couple of times a year.

Lighter weights, reps 20-odd or down to 6 at the least, depends on the lift.

So in other wards it played out like is normal for anyone.

Like if you were weak in upper body how is that the programs fault? You realize legs are the largest muscles so it makes sense they develop faster than upper body.

That’s just normal that upper body takes longer but that’s because you’re weak and it takes more development.

Can’t spite your legs for being prone to grow faster sooner... not the programs fault and it sets you up for the best success possible either way.
