I agree, helicopters are way cooler. Unfortunately helicopter training costs twice as much as airplane training. And once you get your license, it’s gonna cost twice as much to rent one, and that’s if you can even find a place that’s willing to rent you their 1 million+ dollar R-22.
I originally wanted to fly helicopters until I realized that helicopter pilots don’t really get to fly helicopters for fun, unless you’re rich enough to buy your own.
Also, helicopter pilots need the same medical certificate as airplane pilots, so if your eyes are bad you might be **** outta luck.

Heli’s aren’t for me. Aviation is aviation and we are all in it together so I don’t have a problem with it. We are all airmen.
Just not my thing. My friend has one, he’s a great stick. I did a walk around and noticed the intricacies and how numerous the parts were. All I could think was, “one... bearing, safety wire, bolt, etc let’s go and you’re pretty well fooked.”
In the plane, as long as I have authority on the control surfaces and the spar is intact, I’ve got a good chance at survival.
I know, I know, autorotate, etc. just not my cup of tea.-Misc Pilot/Airplane Owner Crew

Just to get to commercial you’d need another 150 hours, right? In 5 months, that’s still 30/month. 1 hour a day.
Then, the CFI minimum 15-20?
170 hours in 5 months. 200 hours a year is pretty active for a GA pilot. I think you’re looking at a year bby. And even that’s pretty aggressive.
You training 141 or 61?-Misc Pilot/Airplane Owner Crew
