I guess I'm an idiot, I have a trap bar & I sometimes do a "deadlift-type movement" with it (can't call them "deadlifts" anymore, per Mr. Rippetoe).

And just think with all that time you save not trap bar deadlifting you can learn to put your plates on the right way:

I kinda want a hex bar, but not necessarily for deadlifts(although i'd probably try them sometimes as an accessory exercise to my barbell version). It's appeal to me is as a great tool for farmer's walks, overhead pressing, bent rows, and a safer way of doing upright rows. Love that it has neutral grips on it, I just wish there was a way to vary the distance of them for when I want to use narrow or wide(maybe changing the direction you stand inside the bar so you face the weight plates would accomplish this?). Some have a fairly impressive weight capacity of 1000lbs, which I doubt I would ever reach or come anywhere near - but it's nice to know I wouldn't ever 'outgrow' it. Potentially handy, but kind of something i'll wait a bit til i'm set up with more essential equipment before adding to my collection. But i'd love to have one all the same.
