Going strictly widespread states is too broad a stroke I am afraid. If you really want to get into the nitty gritty...
Let's look at Red/Blue based off counties:
You'll notice that blue country wide is mainly centered around major cities. EVERYWHERE else is red. Might make you think.... that large cities cause a need for things to be provided and catered too. They are out of step with how society at a foundational level works:
-They simply wake up and walk down to the grocery store and everything is there. They are perhaps not aware or just ignorant on all the work it takes to get that product there for them to consume. The farm they grow on, the harvesting, the purchasing, the shipping, the stocking, etc.
-Same goes for power. Their light switches just turn on. They are out of touch with how that power gets there. Miles upon miles upon miles of wire and infrastructure. Power factories sometimes hundreds of miles away pushing that all the way there.
To sum it up, they think chit just magically gets to where it should go and live in a world where they are in a bubble and chit just works. They simply just consume massive amounts of resources all the while having a holier than thou attitude towards the very people it takes to permit their comforts.
WHICH... long story short, brings me to my point. It makes the red counties sad and they eat their feels due to the mean blue uppity class citizens.
THE END..

So like the claim that Ecto likes to produce about states and welfare I think if you look under the covers a little you'll find out that certain demographics within those majority red areas are contributing significantly to things like welfare and obesity rates. I mean we already know that Dems carry the day regarding the lowest income brackets and by no small margin.

Can you answer Dave22reborn's question? What race has the highest obesity rate? Let's go even further, how do they typically vote?
Also, obesity is typically related to low income families. If you look at the poorest counties in red states suck as TX, AR, Al, FL.....etc, you will see that they overwhelmingly vote blue. Hence, Hillary winning the under 30k and under 20k welfare vote.

I think Latinos took the lead in 2016. according to this at least:
"According to the most recent statistics from the NHANES in 2016 Latino adults had the highest overall obesity rates. Latino Adults age 20 and older had reached an obesity rate of 47.0%. Adult Latino men's rate was 43.1%, the highest of all males."▪█───█▪ Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but nobody want to lift no heavy-azz weights. ▪█───█▪

We could go at Mexican and their diabetes. Big drain our health services and they pay nothing

Mario Alberto Maciel Tinajero looks like a fairly healthy 68-year-old. He has a few extra pounds on his chest but he's relatively fit. Yet he's suffered for the last 20 years from what he calls a "terrible" condition: diabetes.
"I've never gotten used to this disease," he says. Maciel runs a stall in the Lagunilla market in downtown Mexico City. This market is famous for its custom-made quinceañera dresses and hand-tailored suits.
