Charlie Weiss saod Edelman is a HOF WR

Charlie Weiss was on SiriusXM NFL radio this morning and they were talking about current HOF players on the Patriots and said Edelman will get into the HOF.

I disagree. I think he is good but not HOF worthy. He's only broken 1k receiving 3 times and never has had more than 7 TDs in a year. His stats are pretty pedestrian considering this is a passing league and he's played with a HOF QB. There will be a lot of WRs in front of him that will have a lot better numbers.

    Thoughts?

He's borderline. As a Patriots fan, I've never seen a tougher player. I think they said he had 3 injuries during the Titans game which a less player would have ended up on the IR for.

But, he should be known for being on 3 SB teams, while being the best playoff WR of his generation. His 1442 receiving yards & 118 receptions are 2nd to Jerry.

I like Edelman, but zero chance he gets into the Hall. His career stats just do not even come close to guys who are in there now.

Afaik the news about him being hurt came out shortly after the car jump incident. Clearly used as a PR stunt to shift the focus (if the timing was like that indeed).

Lost it. Yea, unless Julian plays at the exact same level until he's 40 I don't see it happening. I'm sure it will be discussed due to what he's done in the playoffs/superbowls but his stats aren't anywhere near most of his "contemporaries" who are in.

I never “questioned his toughness.” Your made up story about him having three different injuries that would have any other player on the IR caused my reaction.

An “unclear knee injury” leaves people on the IR? Lol okay.

Sorry, 2 different injuries & then another one listed.

Also, everyone here thinks they have a more important opinion than a former NFL/NCAA Coach. If he's saying this, then there are probably a lot of voters considering him for the hall.

Yeah but its Charlie Weiss. I usually turn the station when he comes on bc he tends to be a huge homer but the other day I listened to him on the ride to work and he said this.

Seems like even Pats fans are split on this. If that is the case I doubt the HOF will vote him in.

He averages 6/72/0.25 in the playoffs.

In his career he averages 4.5/50/0.25 per game.

By Comparison, a list of WR who still arent in the HOF:
    Torry Holt: 5.3/77.3/0.42
    Isaac Bruce: 4.5/68.2/0.40
    Reggie Wayne: 5/68/0.38
    Rod Smith: 4.6/62/0.37
    Chad Ochocinco: 4.6/67/0.40
    Keyshawn Johnson: 4.9/63/0.38

You get the point. Edelman's yardage in playoff games is the only thing he's got going for him. Hes an otherwise pedestrian receiver in the NFL and has never been a top guy. No way he makes the HOF in my opinion.

I mean isn't Terrel Davis in the hall of fame due largely to playoffs/Superbowl? I don't think Edelman is a hof but it's not unprecedented to let a player in due to post season performance

He juiced his way to the HOF. His stats and big moments and playing style certify him.

That being said, if he didnt have Brady he would be Cole Beasley.

TD was the driving force behind that back to back SB winning team.. Edelman isn't even close to that

Besides he's a cheater and has gotten in trouble with law too much. If TO had to wait years to get in, Edelman gonna be waiting a long AF time

While I 100% agree that TD got into the HOF a little too easily, he was the top RB in the league in 97 and 98 and a first team all pro in 96 (also in '97 and '98), including a 2000 yard 21 TD season in 1998. Edelman has never even gone to the ProBowl, let alone been the best WR for a season.

No. He has more playoff yards and receptions than other WR's because he was lucky enough to play with Brady and Belichick.

Dude hasn't been a top 10 WR at any point in his career. Zero all-pros and zero pro bowls. Just lol

Those other injuries have different degrees of severity. Somehow I doubt that he had a rib cage injury so bad that most other players were on IR and he was playing through it.
