    Anyone attempted the Carnivore Diet

    Anyone attempted the Carnivore Diet?

I am on day 2 so far, noticed i looked a bit thick in my holiday snaps, so hoping this can lean me out.

Anyone tried this diet before? So far feeling good despite my jet lag.

Reds who go on the carnivore diet typically end up redder.

I've tried the vertical diet, which is mostly red meats, potato/carrot, orange juice. Rest of calories come from rice.

Boring, easy. Rather have pizza and bacon cheese fries.

well you're not a carnivore so i dont see why you would think a carnivore diet is best, just like vegans thinking we are herbivores.

Is it so hard/bad to eat a balanced diet of plants and animals? Throughout human evolution our bodies have been designed to operate on both vegetation and animal meat/fat so that is without question the best diet, going to far in one or the other is going to have negatives that the combined does not.

But from my standpoint i see it as suboptimal because you will be eating so much protein that the liklihood of entering ketosis is low, and when you do enter it as many athletes have shown, it is at a very low level. You arent eating enough carbohydrates to sustain energy either, so unless you are doing it for a limited amount of time to lose some fat, where do you expect to get energy to perform optimally in exercise from? Your body needs either carbohydrates or fats and needs to be either in a ketogenic state or glycogenic state to utilize fats or carbohydrates as energy and if you can have metabolic flexibility if you eat right on a carbohydrate diet where you will burn both, but not in a ketogenic state.

do you understand what an omnivore is?

Animals that are carnivores, which are very few and far between, have bodies that were designed over thousands of years including their stomachs, natural digestive enzymes, microbiome, teeth, organ structure, etc... to process animal meats and fats only/primarily. Humans were undeniably not build to be herbivores or carnivores, we have evolved to process plants and animals, with a stronger persuasion towards plants, but it can vary based on your genetics and ancestry.

I participated in world carnivore month last January for fun. Throughout the years I've enjoyed experimenting w/ extreme manipulation diets here and there. The simplicity was awesome. My bowel movements changed. Then changed again after about two weeks. I lost about 15 lbs while running it. I re-comped out of it slowly introducing different foods again. I currently follow a vertical diet protocol for the most part. Personally, I feel and look better now. Thankfully I don't have many food sensitivities. That said, I feel the best way of eating for myself is a well rounded diet, high in animal protein but with certain fruits and vegetables in the mix as well.

Everyone acting like OP is gonna develop heart disease after doing this for a short amount of time.

Probably the easiest but most expensive "diet" to lose weight on.
BRB always full because fat and protein take so long to digest, yet calorie count is really low compared to carbs.
BRB meat for almost every meal gets expensive fast.

You'll lose weight fast OP and have more energy after your body gets used to the low carb intake. Though I think just cutting out processed carbs has relatively the same effect while being a lot cheaper.

    One guy who talks sense.

I'm gonna do this for a few weeks, then move to something like a paleo diet and then eventually back to eating normally.

Although pretty interested in this vertical diet, gonna do some research on that.

just fyi, if you eat 3 10oz ribeyes a day and NOTHING else, which really is NOT much food and not going to leave you feeling very satiated and happy, thats already 2500 calories in one day, so this whole "its easy to eat low calories" is just bogus and and i have no idea where this comes from.

you can have a cup of rice with lean meat 6 times a day with vegetables/salad and be under 2500 calories, you tell me which one is going to be easier to feel full and lose weight on? Added bonus of tons of extra nutrients and energy and bodily function on the 2nd diet.

I clearly meant processed carbs (pasta, bread, etc.) which you should have understood had you read everything I wrote. Context is everything.

And then just cruising right past the part where I stated Protein and Fats take longer to digest leading to feeling full longer.

And your follow up comment is even dumber. 30 oz of steak is a lot of fuking food and anyone would feel pretty full after that much steak 3 times a day.

Jordan Petersen and his daughter tried it, and it apparently fixed his depression, and his daughter's chronic arthritis.

However, he said any little deviation, say a cup of soda, would send him into more severe depression than before.

So I don't think its the best idea

Humans were undeniably not build to be herbivores or carnivores, we have evolved to process plants and animals, with a stronger persuasion towards plants, but it can vary based on your genetics and ancestry.
The exception would be the Inuit people. They literally didn't have any plants to eat, just meat and fat. Besides the point really, if an omnivore wants to be a carnivore (or herbivore) for a short period of time there won't be an issue.

bro, 8 oz of steak is considered a petit portion at most steak houses, 10 oz of ribeye in one serving as a whole meal is NOT much food lol.

processed carbs are the SAME calories as complex carbs, the only difference is the micronutrients and the digestion/rate of digestion. Just because protein and fat are slower absorption does not mean they are always as satiating. I guarantee you can slam a few peanut butter sandwiches and be pretty hungry soon after, or a couple fried eggs with some coconut oil on top and a side of 3 pieces of bacon. Its a **** ton of calories but most people will still be hungry very soon after, especially if you have a higher trhan normal BMR or TDEE.

i didnt say you should never do it but for a person who exercises regularly its not as good as doing a balanced omnivore diet.

Also the inuit people have a very long ancestral history of not being solely carnivores, if you look at their total history throughout human evolution only a small portion was in the arctic conditions. Thats why they dont have a mouth full of jagged teeth and no internal organ abnormalities. That whole inuit thing only works for saying that the keto diet is genetically better for some people than others, however, the carnivore diet does not lead you to being into a significant level of ketosis, usually youll be around .4 nmol which a level of 1.0+ is usually a baseline level of being in ketosis.

I’d you want to build a lot of muscle, have low Body fat, think clearly, have high testosterone and low estrogen, be constantly glowing, have women attracted to you all the time... then sure, go ahead and eat no carbs.

I think a lot of it depends on genetics, i am mixed race with half european half nothern Iranian and high protein diets seems to feel really good for me. If i eat a high carb diet i feel low energy, weak and more down.
