See this is the problem, theres absolutely no way that every schools depth wont be tested. All of these kids are going to want to go out and party at some point. So if your QB gets sick before a big game youre fuked

Based off everything I've heard, I'll summarize what I expect for 2020:
• I expect Michigan to play football this fall.
• I expect that U-M will play fewer than the 12 games on its schedule and that the trip to Washington and the Arkansas State game will be either canceled outright or replaced by Mid-American Conference opponents.
• I expect Michigan to play at least one home-and-home and potentially two or more with other Big Ten teams, most likely Michigan State, Indiana and Ohio State. I expect Notre Dame to be a very real possibility as a fill-in game because of the location and access via buses.
• I expect that if Michigan holds in-person classes student-athletes will be required to attend them just like normal students, however, I do believe that there will be specific student-athlete dorms on campus, with all the fall sports teams (including upperclassmen) to live in the dorms.
• I expect at least one Big Ten program not to play football this fall and as many as four or five. I think there is a chance for a four-team Big Ten championship bout to be played in December with the teams staying put in one city/hotel all two weeks.
• I expect the other fall sports, field hockey, golf, soccer and cross country to play but have entirely regional schedules with no flights whatsoever. I'm not sure about volleyball.
• I don't expect fans to be in attendance at any sporting event that is not football.

I dont see why a bus is necessary. When you charter a plane you never see a terminal. You get a bus from campus to the tarmac, go through pvt security screening in a spare hanger and you dont come close to any commercial passengers.

I do think regional schedules with a limited number of common opponents is required though. Very sad that OOC games wont happen, some of us look forward for decades for some of these games to go from contract to gameday.



Also, fans need to stay home for NFL and CFB and we need to stop demanding to have fans in the building. I would much rather they get nowhere near players and we minimize risk of losing games (get a full TV schedule) than have games lost for the sake of 3000 local tickets.

Great. That means we can forego seeing Alabama curbstomp USC in the season opener. And before anyone talks about Bama's "soft schedule" a friendly reminder that Clemson, LSU, and Ohio State open with with Georgia Tech, UTSA (??), and Bowling Green respectively.

idk how this will actually work though with the nature of the game and the sheer number of staff. They should just call it off until next fall for the sake of not giving us watered down chit. I can easily see the most important metric by far, not how many 5 star recruits you have, but how many no covid players you can field.

I doubt they had many schollys for those sports. Some fall away for the sake of title IX, balancing womens and mens scholarships, which is unlucky.

For some student-athletes this is actually a dream come true. Get to be a normal student, at Stanford, can focus on study and being a regular hungover student.

Really though, football is a game that cant be played safely or well without a real fall camp. Aint nobody gonna be ready to start fall camp in 3 weeks time.

They should have left in April when they had a chance, they definitely shouldnt play next season if their stock is already high.

If the season is delayed until Jan 2021 or Spring, then it interferes with the draft process. No way they would compete in Spring and Fall seasons in 2021 either.

I think the season just has to be lost and hopefully they can resume next August 2021, all eligibility clocks paused, etc.

They’ll absolutely be eligible for the draft. They have to be. The rule isn’t 3 years of college, it’s 3 years post high school. A high school player could theoretically not go to college at all, and in 3 years would be eligible to be drafted. It obviously wouldn’t ever happen though.

The real question is, what does this do for players who’s last year of NCAA eligibility was this season? Will they all get a 6th year? What does it mean for scholarship limits if you have a full recruiting class coming in and hardly anyone leaving?

I think baseball will be the ultimate guinea pig to see if sports can be played without a single site bubble. If it succeeds through August, the better the chances of there being a college football season.

99.99% chance we see a MAJOR change to the season (i.e. only conference play like some have already committed to, no bowls, no playoff)

I think one point of contention is going to be the whole "amateur athletes" thing. They're not being paid, why should they willingly put themselves at greater risk?

If somehow they all just do conference games, I really hope conferences will do a season where EVERY conference team plays every other team. Forget about divisions. Everyone play everyone. Top 2 teams can either play a conference championship, or whoever comes out on top the regular season wins the conference.

Virginia Tech CB Caleb Farley, a projected first-round pick, is the first college player to opt out of the coming season, a source tells ESPN. Farley will spend the year training for the NFL draft. He has seen NFL players opt out and is uncomfortable with playing this year.
