He’s also the I’m committed to the build guy that was telling high level CU boosters that he was committed to Colorado last night (while his agent was apparently negotiating with MSU). Good luck with Midnight Mel, MSU fans. Dude, didn’t even address the team before bolting.
In retrospect, Larry Scott really ****ed the PAC 12 over with the terrible media rights deal he signed.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

Eh, I think a lot of the hate on Mel is wrong. They probably had initial negotiations and based on those negotiations he decided to stay. He shouldn’t have been so definitive but he probably didn’t expect them to come back and back up the brinks truck. When MSU came back late with these guarantees, assistant salary pool, etc it was a no brainer. He made a decision any of us would have. He likely attended that booster event prior to anything being finalized and would have raised a lot of suspicion by backing out last minute, especially if nothing came of the new negotiations. We don’t know the real timeline here. Also, from what I heard he wanted to address the players but was blocked. Maybe you know more than I do on the Colorado side of it but keep in mind the sources you are hearing from are likely feeling scorned.
I feel bad for the players on both schools, especially the ones who recently signed letters of intent to play for their respective schools and coaches. They should be allowed to withdraw from school and transfer immediately, without penalty in situations like this. Unfortunately it comes at a time where most schools don’t have available scholarships.
I place the blame fully on MSU and dantonio. They are the ones that set the timeline and the ones that threw a giant bag of money at Mel.

He did a local media tour on Tuesday, he was literally on the radio at 5pm yesterday talking about his decision to stay and build at Colorado. By Midnight the news was out that he’d agreed to become the MSU head coach.
There is no way his agent wasn’t negotiating while he was talking about his decision to stay, so he lied through his teeth and was really just leveraging the local media to squeeze more money out of Michigan State. That’s sketchy and certainly not the classiest way to leave a program.
But oh well, I look forward to them getting big brothered by Michigan and run off the field when they’re outclassed by Ohio State.Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. -C.S. Lewis

I think we could. I wouldn't put the odds as being great or anything, but some countries are seeing reductions in cases of COVID. We are learning more about it and seemingly making progress. CFB is still 4.5 months away. That is a long time to have such a huge amount of attention on resolving it. A month ago people were still going to restaurants, the NHL had games on 3/11 (not sure about other sports). The biggest issue is going to be fans/crowds.
Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.
Performance and performance alone dictates the predator in any food chain.

That’s one of the scariest thoughts. We could see entire athletic programs shuttered much like UAB with players kicked to the curb. Sure, some may come back in a few years when things return to normal. But not all. This will have a lasting impact. And what about all of the student athletes who aren’t allowed on campus, might lose their scholarship, etc.
A lot of people are going to be left behind.
