2020 Corvette Stingray Car of the year

The Kia Telluride took Sport Utility of the Year honors and the Jeep Gladiator won the Truck of the Year Award.

    https://abcnews.go.com/Business/wire...takes-68244471

The redefined Chevrolet Corvette Stingray won the 2020 MotorTrend Car of the Year award, earning the mid-engine masterpiece a top spot among the best vehicles the world has to offer for the third time in Corvette’s history.

The coveted honor, previously awarded to Corvette in 1984 and 1998, was presented to Tadge Juechter, Corvette executive chief engineer and Michael Simcoe, General Motors vice president of Global Design, at an event featuring industry executives and celebrity guests at MotorTrend’s headquarters in El Segundo.

I'm not feeling it but I've not seen one IRL yet.

That said I did not like the C7 when it came out either, and now I own one.

No manual transmission though, and that would be a tough thing to overlook when buying a sportscar.

Looking forward to seeing what they do for a Z06 version.

Wut? Is that a trend now? Not a big car dude (had a ‘94 camaro a long time ago and some friends with nice cars but never really got into them).
That Kia soccer-mom-mobile is right up my alley these days though. Currently have a 2011 Jeep Sahara (bought it off a friend for 10K under what it’s worth (rich doctor) and I’ll never buy another jeep product again.

Tbh why would anyone want it, you don’t sacrifice your back seats unless you’re getting good performance out of the car. A 4 door sedan can keep up with this

Just get a Giulia Quadrifoglio, 4 doors, much more engaging and fun to drive, better design, just as fast.

The gladiator pick is weird, what was the reasoning?

Every review I've seen on it basically says it's overpriced and under performs.

It doesn't have a stick shift option anymore, but it does have a dual clutch paddle shifter transmission - you'll still have control over what gear you're in, but it's ultimately much faster than a true manual.

The AR did the Ring time on a 60 UTQG rating tire which is basically a DOT approved race compound. The C8 did it on all-season Michelins and still beat the AR. Put some Sport Cup 2s on the C8 and watch the margin grow by a considerable amount.

I like jeeps but the Gladiator is a joke. Other than having the same features as a JK/JKU, (removable top, doors, etc) which is the main reason to have a Jeep, it doesn't excel at anything.
So many better choices for trucks out there. Definitely a weird pick.

The Telluride looks nice and much higher quality than old Kias. I had a Kia sedan as a rental one time 10 years ago and it felt like it was going to shake apart on the highway.

I'm aware. But an auto with paddle shift is still not the same as a manual.

I have an 8 speed auto with manual mode in my SRT; has paddles on the steering wheel and you can also use the shifter to change gears manually. I drive it in manual mode 100% of the time, but my Z06 with the 7 speed manual is much more fun.

I've only had my C7 Z06 for a little over a year, so I'm not in a hurry to trade up for a C8. I'll see what they come out with for a Z06 version....

I own a modded out JKU and have been a jeep enthusiast for years, but with that being said, jeeps are GARBAGE vehicles. It's laughable the gladiator gets truck of the year. It's ridiculously overpriced. The only way you should own a jeep is if you are able to work on chit yourself. The vette is sweet looking, but with all of the issues GM seems to have with their transmissions, i would stay FAR away from the first round of cars released. Gotta let them work the bugs out.

Agreed 100%. Either me, my dad, or my brother have had a couple wranglers and a couple cherokees and a grand cherokee between us. I love wrangers so I can also say they are pieces of chit. cherokees blow up at 100k miles also. Of course, when they tranny inevitably fails they are cheap to fix. I had a wrangler drop a fukking drive shaft on the highway while I as going 60 mph. yes it had a little lift on it but just LMAO. that jeep cost 15,000 brand new. now they want 50 grand for an optioned wrangler. no thnx joffrey

I get what you mean. I've never owned a paddle shifter, but feel like a true manual is probably more fun. But a dual clutch shiftable automatic is undeniably "better". I'm sure it's only a matter of time before stick shift manuals are almost entirely phased out.

It's still gonna be some time before I'm able to, but I want to get into a C7 for my next car.
