Have never posted as normally just lurk but here is what I think happen and why you are confused.

Did you buy your Gap insurance through Honda and not your auto insurance company? If so, Honda probably has their own deductible in their gap coverage and your insurance company has their own deductible as it should. If you bought gap coverage on your auto policy and not through Honda directly, you would have had just your single 1k deductible as one policy was responding but theoretically now two policies are responding (your auto insurance and Hondas Gap policy).

    Is the above accurate?

Gap will not pay your deductible. Honda is getting shorted 1000 dollars because youre letting the insurance payout cover it instead of paying it on your own. This is common sense. Gap is responsible for the difference between the 14 grand Honda was supposed to get and the balance you owe. Why would your gap company pay your insurance deductible for you?

I was confused because I thought GAP covered the difference of what my insurance didnt pay. It makes sense now when GAP covers the difference between the ACV and my loan, not what my insurance didnt pay. I get it now

Honda GAP says it covers up to $1000 deductible so I dont think it has its own. I think its more of GAP covers the difference between the ACV of the car and my loan, not just what my insurance didnt pay out. Thats what confused me
