    5/3/1 or Conjugate?

Hi again. I'm considering moving on to a different template in the distant future. I've been lifting for a year and three months and have ran Madcow 3x5. I'm thinking of trying 5/3/1 for a long while then Conjugate. I say long while I'm thinking like years from now. Is this a sound plan? Would love to elaborate with anyone about this.

I understand it's important to emphasize hypertrophy for the first three years but ultimately getting stronger will get you jacked long term.

5/3/1 would be a good training program to transition to. There are so many ways to set it up as well.

If you're serious about running 5/3/1 I would pick up the 5/3/1 Forever book, which is Jim's latest work and most update info on 5/3/1.

My question is what's the incentive to move away from MadCow?

Are you bored with it, just don't like it, stalled, feel like you need to move be because you need a change, goals changed, not "hypertrophy" enough?

Knowing why you want to move on would be very helpful. Also Anthony's advice to read the latest 5/3/1 book (if you haven't already) is solid advice
Faith in Jesus first and faith in squats second.
Then other details will start to slot themselves into place.
Diet restarted, target 69.x Kg, progress poor so far :(

Some real sound questions to ask yourself OP in terms of transitioning to a new training program.

I'm currently running 5/3/1 with BBB for upper body and FSL lower and enjoying it.

I also train a pull and rear delt movement every workout.

Go for it if that's what you want to do, the workouts are between 40/50 minutes and the focused nature of each one and progression protocol keeps them interesting.

It would be worthwhile investing some time reading into Wendler's methods and advice, be it in his books or blog/articles.

thats a big range of options within options, 5/3/1 is essentially just a few of Wendlers principles and ideas that can be formatted in hundreds of ways
conjugate is a more concrete system, but probably has even more range and flexibility

Id take out a step further, it's really anything designed by Jim. Some of the templates aren't even 531 anymore.

    I liked 531
