    2020 Toyota Supra news!

    https://pressroom.toyota.com/release...90+dollars.htm

Looks like the MSRP will be around $49,990 for a base 3.0, going all the way up to $53,990 for the Premium, or $55,250(which I suspect will be marked up) for a 1-1,500 "launch edition."

    335hp with 365lb-ft of torque.

    Different Grades, Same Power
The 2020 Supra will be available in two grades: 3.0 and 3.0 Premium. Both will be powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that produces 335 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with racing-style paddle shifters. Both grades will also come standard with serious performance features including adaptive suspension, an active rear differential and launch control.
The 3.0 grade has a 6.5-inch display with Bluetooth and iPod capability, as well as Alcantara seats. Navigation and JBL Audio will be an available option for an additional $2,460.

The 3.0 Premium grade will feature an upgraded 8.8-inch wide-format touchscreen display with Navigation, Supra Connect telematics services, wireless Apple CarPlay, a premium 12-speaker JBL audio system, wireless phone charging and a color Head-Up Display. The 3.0 Premium grade will also feature heated, leather-trimmed seats.

The Supra Launch Edition will be based on the 3.0 Premium grade.

Standard safety features on both grades, as well as the Launch Edition, include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, road sign assist and automatic high beams.

The Driver Assist Package is an additional suite of safety features that will be optional on both grades for an additional $1,195. It includes full speed adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, parking sonar and rear collision warning.

Somewhat of an unpopular opinion, but I dig it. The concept obviously looked more supercar-ish but this is still a head-roller for a daily driver.

It's essentially a Z4 though, lol. Besides the BMW engine, apparently some of the interior/electronics have BMW-like sounds or something.

Besides the Toyota brand reliability and the Supra name, I wonder what will cause people to choose this over a Z4 roadster given that they're practically the same price.

It looks decent enough. Will have to see overall performance numbers though.

It should be 380hp though. Since the Z4 M40i is 380hp in the US. The supra should be the same.

    Imho looks ugly.

Its like they took FRS and than gave it more power, and some more crazy angled body work.

Plus BMW influence in interior and exterior yuck.

Concept car on other hand looked unbelievable.

    lol @ that.

They totally disrespected the name "supra". And this is coming from a V8 guy who don't give a chit about import cars.....anymore. I used to back in the day, now everything IMHO is chit so i don't even look at them anymore.

But yes that "new supra" is a joke. And lol @ that price tag to go with that chitty power, to go with that chitty rebadged FRS look.

It's barely faster than the 2JZ models. 335hp is pretty poor in todays power game. Should have had at least another 50.

The concept was spectacular. What really kills this car is it is a BMW, and there is no manual. All we wanted was a manual sportscar with a big engine and Toyota reliability.

This. If they had to have BMW do something as part of the deal, have them do the suspension, they're good at that - and give it a Toyota/Lexus engine.

If by barely faster you mean over half a second to 60.. i guess you're right.

I am sure getting the extra 50hp the z4 has won't be tough either.

This is what the BRZ should have been. Like said above, it should have looked like the concept. $50k for 335hp? This thing is going to get slaughtered by Mustang GTs both at the dragstrip and track. I'll look forward to a 2JZ swap though with a big single.

Its the B58, closed like the 2JZ and much better than the legendary BMW N55. Its won multiple engine of the year awards and probably BMWs best I6 (BMW are the best I6 producers in the world).

This is probably the most smoothest Turbo 6 you can get. One of the biggest selling points of the 2JZ was the sequential turbo smooth delivery. This surpasses that.

Honestly, Toyota expect to sell the Supras and 86s at a loss. They are just minimizing their losses by collaborating with another manufacturer and if the Supra had to get an engine, it had to be an I6 (not v6) and this is probably the cream of the crop.

Ideally, Toyota rebuild a 2JZ MK2 engine that can handle 10,000hp in stock form, weighs 10lb and costs $3, but it aint happening. we should just be lucky they are revisiting this car.

I think it ticks all the right boxes so far considering the situation, perfect 50 50 balance, perfect size ratio, rigid and ultra mega smooth delivery. This is going to be a drivers car, very very confidence building, predictable around a track. Not a drag fishtail car.

I was going to ask the same: "$50K for 335hp?" Nah. I don't really care for the front's look. A lot of cars for me are like that. The entire car looks great, but the front design not so much.

We are talking about a 4.1 second Supra vs a 3.9 second Mustang GT. Not much in straight line.

Also Mustang GT is clocked at 8:07 around the ring and the Supra is about 7:40

B58 engines are pretty damn reliable. It was a good choice for them to go with that engine, it's just a shame its not powerful enough and the car is too expensive. This is a car where people realize its value years after its too late

Somone at Toyota has a brain. I was so afraid that they would either do what other manufacturers have done, make an limited edition supercar that is out of the range of most people, or come out with some joke of a car and put Supra on it to try to sell it, kind of like the Mazda RX8.

This is perfect, someone who designed it must be a fan of the old Supra. They are even carrying over the Turbo I-6 3.0. They wanted to make a modernized version of the last one. They put it in a price range that a lot of people can afford. The only thing I'm worried about is "dealer markup".

That was a 2015 Mustang GT. I would bet a 2018/19 Mustang GT with Performance Pack 2, which is a $45,000 car, would beat the new Supra around the ring. I only say it because it did the Car and Driver lightning lap in 2:53.8; 2.9 seconds faster than the Porsche 718 Cayman GTS, which ran a 7:40 ring time; and 10 seconds faster per lap than the Honda Civic Type R, which ran a 7:43.8 ring time.

Note that the only cars tested in C&D's lightning lap that beat the Mustang GT with Performance Pack 2 were a 911 GT3, Ford GT, Huracan Performante, 720S, Corvette ZR1, and Porsche GT2 RS.

The Supra should be targeting the GTR and NSX imo.

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit softly.

Closed deck, so far much lower tuning potential (people with meth/turbo swaps are reverting the early flash tunes and going back to jb4) , coolant leak issue which killed mine and bmw won't acknowledge.

In its BMW form it has the fuelling system from the poverty 4 cylinder to save money so is fuel capped at 400 whp without supplemental fueling, and has a tiny poverty turbo

A total joke as a successor to the mk4

Theres no offical ring time from Ford, but car and drivers lighting lap on a pp2 was 2:53.8, a hair faster than a 1LE, which obviously would destroy this Z4 in a bodykit around a track.

mark my words, this will tank just like the NSX. 55K puts it squarely in the wheelhouse of more premium and faster cars.

RS3 for example will smoke this thing.
M2, again, will smoke this thing.
Mustang GT will smoke this thing while being 15K cheaper

and worst of all, you can drive a porsche 718 cayman for that price. slower 0-60, but you're in a god damn porsche.

I was looking at pictures from A80 supra vs this and its such awful departure design/philosophy.

Shrunk wheelbase, length made it sports compact.

They could have used the Lexus LC platform with BMW engine....

What an abomination on every front. Toyota should’ve just sold the rights to the Supra to BMW. This is the rx7-rx8 crap all over again. How do you put an engine in that isn’t, at the least, as moddable as the previous engine from over 20 years ago? Prices on the mk4 should skyrocket with this pos coming out. Toyota **** the bed badly with this car.
