i had something similar happen about a year and a half ago. 3 dogs ran out of a front door and surrounded mine. only ended up with one puncture wound near his ass. he couldn't handle the cone...would just walk around til he hit a corner, then flip out and run into everything.

i got him something like this, https://www.chewy.com/kong-cloud-col...BoCLvUQAvD_BwE, and it worked a lot better.

My GSD was an absolute menace with the cone of shame. He had a big one and he damn near killed me three times coming down the stairs (I was going down in front of him and he tried to run past me on the side like he always does). It was like he was wearing a snow plow. And then he was running into and chipping walls, cabinets, etc. I ordered him a soft collar that was more like a human neck brace kind of thing and it was much better.

That sucks. Man I'd be kicking the **** out of a dog that did that and wondering if I could make a shot with a safe backstop but probably not because of moving targets so so not worth trying, would be pissed/10.

They...they just don't seem to get it. Our GSD got a stick jammed up his first when he was young-ish that became a foreign body thing (it didn't show up on xray took like three times to get it all it was just a really unfortunate injury for such a simple thing) so anyway he had the cone for awhile...never really stopped plowing into things. He had kind of a side to side shoulder/head move while walking that's typical but you don't notice it so much till the satellite dish is moving with it. He just kept running into things until we took it off...might have slowed down somewhat some of the time and maybe not quite as often but...it kept happening regularly IDK what you can do about it

The donut thing looks awesome but I don’t know if it would keep him from getting to his front leg. I wish I could find one local and try it out just to see. Hate to NDA one and it not work.

I WISH he could run around and knock me down with it, but in addition to the cone he’s hobbled on 3 legs and now the bad one has an open wound that’s still bleeding.

I’ve had a real internal battle with myself over what I could have/should have done to keep this from happening but I can’t get hung up on that. I just have to try and get him better now. And be more prepared next time. It’s rough.

Just gave him some benedryl and the original pain medicine they gave last week. Hoping it takes the edge off for a little while. He’s always hated stuff on his head anyways. Good luck trying to put a hat on him for a funny picture. So this cone thing has him big fuked up.

    Back on the med stuff

More than having it is training. Fortunately, I get it for free from work. Was supposed to take a refresher course yesterday, but was canceled. Sucks.
Three different pouches, slightly different sizes, the size differences are more significant in person than the picture would lead you to believe (and generally the tourniquet, if pouch is worn on the body, would go separately on its own, not on the pouch)

    Left to right

    * HSGI Bleeder-blowout pouch
    - 4" Israeli bandage
    - 2x NAR HYFIN compact vented chest seals
    - 1 pair nitrile gloves
    - NAR compressed gauze 4.5"x4.1y
    - QuikClot 3"x2y gauze (yes tiny)
    - Sheers
    - Temporary rubber band Recon TQ (kind of a placeholder) because this is mostly intended to go on a belt that will have an NAR C-A-T on it directly

    * DStac med pouch
    - 6" Israeli bandage
    - 2x NAR HYFIN vented chest seals
    - 2 pair nitrile gloves
    - QuikClot combat gauze LE
    - Sheers
    - NAR C-A-T in outside pocket
    https://www.esstac.com/product-page/dstac-med-pouch

    * Dark Angel Medical D.A.R.K. Trauma kit
    - 4" Israeli Bandage
    - 2x HALO vented chest seals
    - 1 pair nitrile gloves
    - QuikClot combat gauze LE
    - Compressed gauze
    - Sheers
    - NPA
    - Mylar blanket
    - Polycabonate eyeshield
    - (^ above packed together in a vacuum sealed easy tear clear plastic pouch with contents label)
    - NAR C-A-T outside pocket
    https://darkangelmedical.com/d-a-r-k-trauma-kit/

    * Dark Angel mini trauma kit plus with pouch
    - SWAT-T 'tourniquet'
    - 1 pair nitrile gloves
    - QuikClot bleeding control dressing
    - 1 pair HYFIN chest seals
    - (^ above vacuum packed, overall size is similar too but slightly smaller than a standard 4" Israeli Bandage) I am going to try to EDC this...it's pushing it though especially when lightweight pants and shorts weather hits
    https://darkangelmedical.com/pocket-...ni-trauma-kit/

All 3 larger pouches are typical design. Main compartment has a length of wide narrow (think seat belt almost) fabric/band looped through such that you simply pull it from the top, outwards, and the contents slide out of the top. Additionally, the dstac pouch comes with an unpictured molle mount 'base' that what you see attaches to, you can simply undo the bulket and grab the red pull handle on the top to unvelcro the pouch from the base

    Nope.

    RIP

I seriously regret the fact that I was just about to move when bb.com had all UP 2.0 on sale literally 50% off back a little over 2 years ago and I only bought 8 tubs. Moving be damned if I had known it was going under I would have bought 20

I think the closest might be BSN Syntha-6, Muscle Milk* (haven't had that for years), or Metabolic Maintenance Nutrition Musclean

*A quick search indicates they have changed their formula since the last time I had it so I can't say

Back story to the GSD and the dish.

We had planned to get him neutered and do the GSD stomach "pinning" thing (to avoid it being able to flip and lead to deadly bloat) as long as he was already going under. So we had all that done and that was the reason for the dish. Got him home in the afternoon and he was tired/sad but doing fine. Vet said we could take the bandage off his leg where the IV was after a few hours.

So I wait until right around dinner time and decide to take off the wrap. There's a little scab that comes off with the bandage and it's bleeding a little . . . no big deal, right? Put a little pressure on it and it will stop. Well . . . it ain't stopping and it's actually starting to bleed pretty good, like in a "that's not right" kind of way. We call the vet and they are still open and they tell us to bring him in. By that time, I have my wife helping and she's trying to keep pressure on the spot and it's soaking the rags. I have to try to lift him into the back of the Xterra.

Normally this is not a big deal, but it's shortly after my bicep rupture surgery. He's about 65 pounds. I'm not supposed to lift more than about 20 lbs. I'm full of adrenaline and not thinking much about it and I pick him up. POP!!! followed by pain at the attachment site. I was sure I re-ruptured the bicep (turns out it was scar tissue busting loose but at the time I thought I wrecked it for sure).

Get to the vet and they get him inside and onto an exam table. The nurses take the bloody bandage off and his leg is spurting blood pretty heavily. The doc comes running in and goes to take a closer look and finds that the "needle" from the IV had broken off right at skin level when they removed it after the surgery so you couldn't really see it. He basically had a straw sticking out of the blood vessel that clotted up after the surgery but busted loose when the bandage was removed. If we hadn't found it, it could have broken loose at any time and he would have bled out while he slept. Doc pulled it out and the bleeding stopped pretty fast.

I was not a happy camper.

The doc comes running in and goes to take a closer look and finds that the "needle" from the IV had broken off when they removed it after the surgery.

    Yeah...no ****. That simply shouldn't happen.

Since this is gun thread, I'll point out now how huge numbers of people die every year to doctor mistakes, far far more than to firearm mistakes/accidents. So I mean it happens, people are fallible, but...there should be checks in place to catch that ****...it's like leaving a sponge in somebody...come on...procedures/SOP...

Just gave him some benedryl and the original pain medicine they gave last week. Hoping it takes the edge off for a little while. He’s always hated stuff on his head anyways. Good luck trying to put a hat on him for a funny picture. So this cone thing has him big fuked up.
