Find a manual online or, better yet, a video on field stripping and cleaning/lubing it. Get some ammo. Shoot it a bunch. Repeat.

All you need to do is lube, shoot.

I'm not familiar with what Ruger puts on their pistols from the factor (or did 8+ years ago), so if it's new in box and never been cleaned/etc, cleaning won't hurt, might get preservative (different from lube) off.
This is not the end, no it’s not even the beginning of the end. But it is perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Mine's on a scout mount. I drilled a couple holes in the top of the handguard to mount it. Can easily reach the button on the bottom.

Look up a few videos on YT about how to disassemble that particular model. If you’re asking us, it means you aren’t familiar enough to just give it a go. Figure out how to disassemble and lube it and then put it together and run it.

Arisaka mount of choice. Right handed, goes on right side with tape switch, if no tape switch goes on left side.

Having some trouble finding rings to mount my scope.

For reference, I have a ruger precision rifle and a Vortex Optics Golden Eagle HD 15-60x52 scope.

One set of rings seems to be good, Vortex Optics Pro Series Rifle scope Rings

    but...........

having trouble trying to determine what height, low/medium/high, etc. The book w/ it says 30mm ring size.

any good practices/ideas to try and figure this out without buying them all and trying them out? One seems like using pennies and half diameter of the scope tube, then adding together to get a measurement, and using that for ring size.

    any feedback/advice is really appreciated.

Hello. I have done some research online and am not sure what way to go on this. Remember seeing this thread in the Misc and thought you guys might be able to help. Sorry if it is stupid question but will rep for help.

My dad has decided to stop Whitetail deer gun hunting and would like to sell his 30.06 rifle. Some details that I have found:

    Remington
    Model number 700
    Caliber 30.06
I do have the serial number.
    Purchased in 1987
    Original purchase price $324
    Very good condition.
    He lives in Wisconsin.

There is a scope mounted on the rifle that he would like to sell with it as well if possible. He has the instruction book for the Remington rifle.

I see the online appraisals or hands on appraisals are available but not sure if it is the way to go.

You're going to need either high or extra high. Normally high would work with a 50mm objective, but you have the 52mm so I'm not positive it would work. I'm not finding anyone using the same setup with a quick search. You might also look at the Burris Signature series rings. A lot of people use and like those.
You can make excuses, or you can make progress. Your choice.

Is it ADL, BDL, CDL? That is the different grades for the 700 with ADL being the lowest and CDL the highest. Honestly though, it's not going to be worth a lot these days unless you find the right fudd. 30.06 is an outdated caliber and the 700 doesn't carry as much clout as it used to. Rough guess maybe $400-$600 depending on the grade, scope, condition, etc.

You can go on gunbroker and look for similar rifles and see what people are asking there. The prices are usually high so don't expect to get what you see.
