What do you all think about obliques. I first listened to the old adage that they’ll make your waist wider, but I’m thinking that that’s not true unless they get massive, and that waist size is unchangeable. Honestly though well developed obliques on a ripped physique look great, and make it look “big” as opposed to only having well developed rectus abdominis. Obliques were also rated as on the same level as rectus abs for attractiveness to females too

Gym training is temporarily on hold.

My car is in the shop.
It might be in there until next week.
They need to find the parts.
One of the perks of owning a 26 year old car.

On a brighter note my weight is still dropping.

    178.2 this morning.

I returned to the gym on 7/31.
My second day was 8/2 and on 8/3 I had to drop my car off at the repair shop.

My car was in the shop for a over a week waiting for a part.

I plan to return to the gym tomorrow.

Let's hope this restart lasts longer than two days.

Morning weight was 178, so not too bad.
She approached with her hand extended,. I slowly stepped back. "No" she said. "I just want to shake your hand. You're amazingly gorgeous." As she walked by me she copped a biceps feel.

The obliques man fukk. I'm a flat mess RN, but I'll still attempt to take a pic if requested lmao
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

been back on the cutting game for 4 weeks and making massive improvements while holding muscle

its amazing what you can do when you build up your metabolism first, then do mostly HIIT cardio, still lift heavy AF, and up your protein to pretty damn high amounts to fight hunger and hold onto muscle.

Im down to around 12-13% bf (actual bf% not leoslayer standards), and i reached that stage where you dont see a single change after 3-4 days, and then one day you wake up and you are like "damn thats amazing", only for it to stall yet again.

Anybody goes trough the same **** or is it just my mind? lol.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

I have NEVER believed in day to day changes, its always week to week or even month to month. But most of your progress should always be compared week to week. There are way too many factors like inflamation or stress from a specific workout, sleep, salt, water, digestion, etc... that can make things different day to day bulking or cutting.

Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

Pretty much the only time I would see daily changes was during the last week of prep.

    aka Peak Week.
She approached with her hand extended,. I slowly stepped back. "No" she said. "I just want to shake your hand. You're amazingly gorgeous." As she walked by me she copped a biceps feel.

COVID hasn't been kind to me, I've been a lazy sack of chit since February. I was in a much leaner and harder condition but this is what I look like currently. Once my equipment comes in I'm going to stop being lame. I'm holding onto more fat in the abdominal region for sure I can see it where my obliques are.

its amazing what you can do when you build up your metabolism first, then do mostly HIIT cardio, still lift heavy AF, and up your protein to pretty damn high amounts to fight hunger and hold onto muscle.
are you a firm believer of a high protein diet? I've always cut on .8g/lb of lbm

very firm. Also very firm on it being from animal sources whey protein included.

Chris Aceto, Dante Trudel, Ben Pakulski, Patrick Tuor, Joe Bennett are all proponents of very high protein.

The problem with most studies on protein is they arent on bodybuilders with high muscle mass, high muscle stimulation from correct workouts, and especially advanced lifters taking PED's with greatly increased protein synthesis.

I think 1.5g-2g per lb LBM is best, and myself and some other big ass bodybuilders I know personally always see the best results on more lean animal protein. I also dont think the way the body metabolizes protein you will gain fat from eating too much LEAN protein. I think the thermic effect and the use of the amino acids in the blood stream and any protein converted through gluconeogensis will be used as energy, and NOT stored as fat.

interesting. I have been sticking with low protein for a long time. when I cut down to my avi I was on low protein; I felt like I had lost muscle but ultimately I thought it was due to getting to low BF and having less muscle than I thought I did. no real way to know without trial and error I guess. it's just that nobody really advocates for high protein anymore. even on my most recent bulk a month back, I was making steady size gains on relatively low protein. I would say 15% of my protein comes from processed chicken and the other 85% comes from bread/whey/cheese.

I like the idea of eating high protein, but I hate the taste of lean meat. I think high protein would only really be feasible if I were bulking, then I could bump it up to 1.5x.

in hindsight it probably even makes more sense to have high protein during bulks because that's when you'd need the extra protein to build muscle. I think it's actually very difficult for the body to lose muscle so wouldn't be surprised if high protein diets didn't have much of a benefit during a cut. for example, on PSMF I also did .8g/lb and had no strength/muscle loss.

Actually it is the opposite. You need more protein during a cut. The body will use amino acids broken down from the protein in the bloodstream for fuel before turning to muscle for energy. When you are bulking your body should never be going after muscle for energy because you are eating enough carbs to supply the body with energy and enough muscle glycogen to supply the muscles with energy. This is when the body will only need X amount of protein to build new tissue and X amount of calories over TDEE.

On top of that, the goal of cutting is keeping calories at a certain point, and trying to keep energy expenditure from fat oxidization and not from muscle or glycogen usage(except during a workout you want glycogen use for increase muscle effort and stimulation). If the body is just using consumed fats or consumed carbohydrates as energy during a cut outside of when lifting, you are wasting calories. If you are hitting a target protein set pretty high, say 30g, thats 900 calories from protein, and ideally a person should only be cutting down to 1800 at lowest for a male with muscle. That means you still have 900 calories to play with which could be 200g carbs(600 calories) and 35g fat. that is still pretty damn decent carbs and they should be used around your workout time or post fasted cardio, and then fill up the day with proteins to continue to spare muscle and fight the body turning to lean body tissue for energy.
