Go to various studios and take a bunch of classes, different styles and teachers.
Find a type of Yoga that resonates with you.
Them take classes from different teachers and find a teaching style that resonates with you.
Among those teachers: who gives variations/options for the poses?, who communicates clearly?, who helps the members? who is prepared? who isn't scared to admit failure? Those are the better ones.
Instructors that suck normally come in: give a little intro and do the whole class with you (they are incapable of just telling you what to do because they don't have enough experience or have thought about it deep enough), don't offer modifications, try to entertain you or talk "spiritual" non-sense to distract you.
The good ones are able to answer questions and help you after class.
A good instructor in not the one that can turn into a pretzel but the one that helps you to use your full potential
