"I was just finishing up The Force Awakens and Kathleen was telling me about Rian and how she's bringing him onboard. Rian and I had a meeting. He was telling me about the story that he wanted to tell. He gave me his script to read. He insisted on it. I thought it was brilliant. What I thought was so great about it was the subversions. It went in a completely different direction than what I would've done. Luke and Rey's training. It gave me more permission to be more bold with Episode 9 than what I did with Episode 7." -JJ Abrams

Just saw Rise of Soywalker.
JJ Abrams let his inner child loose. This movie was pure fan fiction.
The best character in this movie was Kylo yet the ending of his arc was not satisfying.
It has a lot issues.
Makes it very clear that Lucasfilm had no plan whatsoeverFinancial Freedom/Passive Income Crew

another thing that really bothers me, as the movie sits with me, is that Reys character completely undermines Yoda as a character.
What I mean is that, what makes Yoda so awesome is that its well known he is the most powerful jedi in the universe and you would never guess it just by looking at him. It has taken him 900 years to become that.
But here comes Rey who is more powerful than yoda halfway through the first movie she appears in and is taken to ridiculous heights in this new movie.
Holding a ship in place with thrusters at full blast AND Kylo pushing it?
Deflecting force lightening that just disabled thousands of republic ships? (that in itself was dumb af)
Being able to levitate/fly? I dont think people realize how many plot holes that innocent scene createsCertified 1200 ng/l T

This movie sucked. Was it shiny? Yes. But Mythbusters already proved you could shine a turd.
In addition to all the criticisms listed here, the stitched together Leia scenes made her look like she had Alzheimer's.
Also:
At the end when the nosy old lady insists on knowing Rey's last name, Rey should have said: "It's Palpatine, bitch." Then fried her right there.
Chewy being all uber excited about finally getting a medal at the end was ****in stupid on par with the Ewoks.
They tried filling their plotholes with BS and smoothing it over: "hey, lets just do the Holdo maneuver!" "no, that was a one in a million thing!" Yeah, aiming your ship at a stationary target and hitting go is really tough.
Finn: "how are we going to find the gizmo we need in the Deathstar wreckage?" Rey: "because the knife has a secret thingy to point to where we need to go (proceeds to rip off Goonies)". HTF did she know the knife did that?!

and the fact that the person holding would have had to stand in that EXACT spot for it to even work. Literally that exact spot and angle. So dumb.
The Chewy medal thing really pissed me off too and its classic JJ Abrams. Chewy not getting a medal was completely a fan meme. Meaning, no one in the actual star wars universe ever knew or even gave a single fuk that Chewy never received a medal so why on earth does someone come up to Chewy 40 fuking years later and act like Chewy not getting a medal was a galactic wide meme in the SW universe? It was awful
cot damn this trilogy has made me appreciate the prequels SO much more. Yea they had chit dialogue and a cringy love thing going on but at least the story itself was damn good and intriguingCertified 1200 ng/l T

Great point when you really reflect on the grand scheme of the new trilogy:
✔ Cash in on nostalgic characters everyone fondly remembers to get people in the door.
✔ Use them to pass the torch over to new characters nobody gives a fukk about, basically trying to force everyone into caring.
✔ Quickly dispose of the original characters people actually loved in the most degrading ways possible like they're used shame-condoms.
✔ Realize that their own characters are so mediocre that they have throw them out and to dig around for any remaining original characters to use.
✔ "See? It all ties together, we're smarter than you, I win, bye-bye."
Comic book garbage being the operative words.
Considering how comics also turned Thor into a chick, it's pretty safe to take anything from the medium with a grain of salt, and any "side content" like the EU with an entire salt planet's worth.
Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams saw how well Marvel has done, and they decided to try turning Star Wars into a formulaic, joke-laden safe space for a main cast who are layered in more plot armor than seven season 8 Arya Starkes put together, set against such stupidly low threats due to perpetuating power one-upmanship.
Hell, the whole "Death Star --> Second Death Star --> Starkiller Base --> OMG SUPER FLEET!!!" perfectly encapsulates the constant dilemma they put themselves into by creating nigh unstoppable heroes that then require even more absurdly rising, uncreative threats. Then there are the powers they keep introducing that bear more resemblance to children on the playground making up new rules on the whim to outdo one another. This entire trilogy might as well be called, "A Nuh-uh! Hope," which is all the more fitting since everyone is a whiny bitch in these new movies.
Exactly. TFA started off with Kylo stopping that laser midair, so now after raising the power level to full-retard levels, now Episode 10 is going to start off with "Skywalkers" flying through space shooting force bolts through finger guns.
Criminy. I knew JJ was a spineless twat, but this just outs him as a hack who hasn't a bloody clue about writing.
Was this dumbcuck not present for the how Game of Thrones Season 8's "subverting expectations" blew up completely in D&D's faces?
"Subversions" don't equate to a good script, and if anything, properly subverting expectations of the viewer requires far more work than telling a straight story because it necessitates planning ahead. And not just, "hashing out a first draft for this third movie in a trilogy," last minute bollocks, but outlining everything in detail before the first bloody film.
Sometimes, it is better to stick to writing within your range, so in JJ's and RJ's cases, that means washing off the graffiti in the Subways bathroom stalls.
I don't even have any investment into Star Wars whatsoever, I am simply insulted by the amount of money these amateurs are paid to put out to do what a group effort by mentally deficient redditors could accomplish in a weekend.
"You've never heard of theMillennium FalconPirate Bay?"
Invest in a VPN and it will pay for itself in less than an hour. Disney has more money than god, but worse, they will keep paying hacks like JJ and Rian while allowing Kathleen Kennedy to continue overseeing this escalating sh*t-show.
It's like the new Cats movie - "It's so bad I have to see it!" Fine, go ahead and waste your time watching gyrating, cat-people abominations; just don't give them money that is directly supporting them regardless of whether you intend to enjoy it (wut) or go full movie roast.I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die

Thing about Marvel/DC is that even they know some comic book plotlines and content won't adapt to the big screen. I've pointed out how there's a version of Hulk who can rip dimensions or some chit. Completely ridiculous and something that should never leave an $8.99 comic book. Star Wars started doing this crap where characters were many times more powerful than you saw on the show, and just about every plotline/force power you can think of was written about.
That's why KOTOR is so solid. It wasn't born out of need to make something novel with characters we've known for 40 years. No need to make Leia a jedi or Luke a bounty hunter or whatever.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

I didn't think it was a great movie but it really beat my expectations. Not a great way to end the Skywalker story, but not the worst.
All the bad reviews and bad thoughts for sure have a point, but fuk it's a movie. People act like the original trilogy was perfectly made, if those came out today people would rip them apart. I thought the final battle could have been more well done - it didn't feel nearly as epic as the final Avengers battle, but it was still cool. Considering this was the end to a 30+ year story, I thought they could have been more lenient and just made it more epic."If in my say 80 years on earth I do more help than damage, then I feel complete."

No. Go back and watch the OT. To this day, young kids still watch them and get hooked on Star Wars. You are completely wrong bro.
This was the end to a 4 year old "story" that was really just a huge cash grab. It was garbage, and nothing Disney has done with Star Wars is anywhere close to the quality of the OT.

this, the difference between the OG trilogy and the Disney trilogy is night and day
everything that happens in the OG has a reason and purpose that makes sense looking at the larger frame
in the Disney we see a accumulation of situations that don't make sense, aren't explained and go against plain logic+++ miscin' at work crew +++
