Should be a very entertaining bout!
If it stays standing, Conor is going to pick him apart. His movement/boxing is far superior.
If Cerrone is smart (and doesn't fall into the trap of being counter punched) he'll utilize his wrestling and work for the submission. IMO, that's the most realistic path to a Cowboy victory.
Disclaimer; would love to see Conor lose upon his "long awaited" return... I just don't see Cowboy besting him.

Cowboy has a 1% chance of winning this. He's just a confidence boost for McGregor. Did you see how slow Cowboy was in his last fight??Plus he wilts under pressure, and a McGregor fight is next level. He will be defeated before he even steps in there, and then knocked out in round 1.
Hate that we have to wait like 3 months to even see this sh*t. Conor should be fighting a top contender at 155.

I keep hearing that people are thinking that Cowboy is a cake walk for Conor. Maybe i'm not seeing Cowboy in the same manner as others but that dude is a beast. Knockout power, precision striking, has insane leg kicks, and can submit anyone. and btw, doesn't Cerrone have the most wins in ufc history lol.

McGregor is elite & Cowboy is a gatekeeper, that's the clear level difference. Cowboy will get Alvarez'd. He's too slow for Conor, that'll be obvious immediately. Plus Cowboy will be mentally defeated after the onslaught of chit talking, you could already see it before. Cowboy just wants to be friends with everyone, he's the type of guy to touch gloves mid fight. He never had the killer instinct to become a champ.

Cowboy isn't an easy fight for anyone. Cerrone just needs to fight smart and not partake in a straight up boxing match. If he's going to stand, he's gotta utilize his leg and body kicks to slow Conor down.
What he needs to do is put Conor on his back and control him there. With 17 career submissions, I have a hard time believing he couldn't pull of a submission victory against the likes of Conor (who has lost twice in the UFC; both times by submission).
You are right about Khabib, however. You can't talk that much smack and then get handled the way he did.

The most winning fighter in UFC history with the most finishes = easy fight/tomato can to you?
Yeah, he is getting older but the idea he is an easy fight is pure potato especially in light of his competition....
The idea that we know anything about C.M current skill level and or mental clarity of a fighter that’s been binging, can’t seem to get his game together, is constantly in trouble, has gotten toyed with and rag dolled in his last two fights AND will be coming back with a thick layer of ring rust is hilarious.
We have no idea what Conor has left....Will Conor probably win IF he can keep his marbles in his marble bag, yeah. Calling it an easy fight with Cowboys record/fight IQ/skill sets in alignment with his competition that can’t seem to keep it together, is goofy...Last edited by Scarrdbutsmartr; 12-19-2019 at 07:22 PM.

please... Mayweather TKO'd him after Conor exhausted himself and Khabib basically Maia'd him. Neither of those losses saw him get "ragdolled."
And I'd stand by my statement and say that Cowboy is by far the easiest opponent he's had in 5 years. Let's not forget Conor put on a flawless clinic against the lineal champ at 155, his only loss at lightweight is against the #1 GOAT of the division. Cowboy isn't a true welterweight and he's in his twilight years. Also "most victories in the UFC" doesn't mean dick and you know it.

Mayweather toyed with him...Kabob legitimately took his soul
...and you are talking about a CM we haven’t seen in 3 years or so.
The toughest opponent CM has ever had, the one that constantly kick his a**, is the guy he sees in the mirror every day.
If you want to say Cowboys record doesnt mean d*** then I can make a strong argument that CM record doesn’t mean d*** at this point as well.
If your argument was prime time CM vs aging Cowboy, then yeah it would be a short show. If you are talking about the highly unpredictable CM of today vs Aging Cowboy that’s a much closer fight. It all depends if CM still has it and can keep it together...which is doubtful
Does anyone actually have confidence this fight will see the inside of the Octagon -I don’t...Last edited by Scarrdbutsmartr; 12-19-2019 at 07:37 PM.

Conor has better stand up. He has the necessary TDD to cancel out the take down attempts too. The big question is if he will gas like he did against Diaz at Welterweight. He is heavier now and he will be hitting a heavy cowboy. His left hand is not as strong at Welterweight as it was at Featherweight or Lightweight.
I’d like Conor to win simply because of the potential showdowns it gives us, but I am afraid this will come down to durability. He has not show us any indication that his gas tank has improved.
Conor will win the first 3 rounds and fade badly in the fourth. He gets submitted in the fifth.

in a straight up standing fight, i don't see how cerrone wins this unless he catches conor with a kick. Cerrone fights way too stiff on the standup and is prone to getting hit a lot. I can see Conor using that reach of his to counter a high kick or something or throw a flurry of punches after Cerrone throws.
Cerrone I think will need to mix up alot of grappling and ground game for him to have a chance of winning. But Conor has decent grappling and TDD so that might be easier said than done. I think I have Conor winning this but if he loses to Cerrone time to pack it up son
