455 LBS Paused Hack Squat for 2 reps at 6'0 and 223 LBS. All time PR for 2s.

455 LBS Paused Hack Squat for 2 reps at 6'0 and 223 LBS. All time PR for 2 reps. Last week got 450 for 2. Paused at the bottom. With feet at the bottom of the mat. It's tougher to do with feet at the bottom of the mat than it is at the top. And tougher to pause it at the bottom than it is to bounce it off the bottom.

On an icarian hack squat machine. No knee wraps.

100 percent natural muscle and natural lifting.

This week I missed my 475 for 1 on my 1s day. So this puts me in a good position for next week when I do 475 again. Figured I just needed to get my 2s up 5 more pounds to get the 475. So i'll see if this works next week.

The warmup leading up to the 455 was...

Leg presses for a couple reps light.

    405 for 1

    425 for 1

    5 mins rest.

    445 for 1

    9 mins rest.

    455 for 2(PR)

Listened to one of Zyzzs favorite songs

To get extra extra pumped up.

About 5 mins before the lift. I went to my car and unpeeled 3 full cloves of garlic and allowed the garlic acid to burn my mouth really bad for a few minutes to get extra pumped up for this. And ate some cayenne pepper powder and honey and orange juice right before lifting.

The garlic is safer and better than ammonia. I'm trying to do the garlic right before all PR attempts.

After the gym I went to the track to do some 45 pound 20 yard dash sled pulls. Wasn't expecting a PR on it but came really close to a PR. Ran 2.66, 2.69, and 2.69. My PR is 2.61 from the summer in the heat. Was 35 degrees out. Had to strip down to just spandex to go for it. Was getting too close to it. So had to go for it. Just missed it.

Haven't done those 20 yard sled pulls consistently but it's always a 1 to 1 ratio of whatever I lift in the gym translates to the track.

Not getting excited though. I'm so slow twitch that I'm now projecting that I would have to hack squat pause over 725 pounds at 6'0 and 223 pounds just to be able to run 10.3 in the 100 and just to be able to broad jump over 10 feet. Only at 9 feet 1 now as my best. And that's not saying much seeing that I did that on concrete. It's easier to do on concrete than it is on a football field. Tom Brady did 8 feet 8 inches. I can't even do over 8 feet 3 inches like 98 percent of the time. That 9 feet 1 was rare for me to do.

Still recovering from the damaging effects of cross country and 400 meter dash training from 1993 till 2015. Looking back at all of the distance running I did and how much I destroyed my body it's really incredible to see it on paper.

I'm looking at countless upon countless workouts of 400s, 800s, mile repeats, 2 mile repeats, 5ks, 10ks, 25 by 200 meter dashes, 30 by 100 meter dash workouts, I literally never gave my body a chance to grow until I stopped everything in Jan 2015 and just stuck with linebacker training of up to 40s and maybe a 60m or 100 meter dash here and there. That's it.

Every single summer I would be doing 400s. Being led in the wrong direction growing up sucks because they never saw the linebacker potential in me. They thought that I was a distance runner. They basically took a sprinter and told him to do distance. Sucks not having a mentor growing up to lead me in the right direction. I would have stuck with 100s and played football instead of doing cross country. But I was told I had to do the middle and long distance.

I did so much distance that i'm finally just starting to gradually recover from it. I have really bad tendinitis in both hips now. All summer long I was stuck at 425 for 1 or 435 for 1 on this at the same bodyweight. I told myself to just push through the pain and improve on this anyways, tendinitis or no tendinitis. And it appears that the only reason why i'm getting stronger in this is that my body is actually growing out to somewhat of a point of what it should have been in college. I created a huge debt and now that i'm no longer doing the distance or 400s since 2015, it's all coming back to my now.

Gradually and slowly. I might gain 5 pounds per year in some lifts but the strength is trying to come back. It's sucks to think how strong I could have been in lifting and sprints if I would have never done the distance running. And never done the 400s.

I kept track of all of my workouts ever since high school and wrote down everything on paper. Rest times and everything. Every single year from 1993 till 2015 I was doing some sort of muscle destroying lactic acid inducing distance or 400 workout. Distance running prohibits protein synthesis within the muscle fibers which then causes them to become weaker and smaller due to the lactic acid accumulation effect.

My back muscles are non existent at this point due to the back swing in distance running or 400s. The lactic acid ate my back muscles or in a sense prevented them from ever being fully developed. Other problem areas are biceps, abs, lower back, and shoulders. All due to the distance running.

I used to do these crazy hill workouts that would last over 10 miles at a time. I used to do like 30 by 100 meter straight up hill sprints up a 35 degree angle hill. All of that does zero for muscle development. It only destroys the muscles. The body adapts to any situation. So my body was adapting to become smaller and weaker in order to reduce weight and in order to run further.

Figures I wouldn't find out about linebacker training until 2015. I used to never watch the NFL but have no choice now. I give the NFL alot of credit to helping me train by searching what NFL linebackers do on youtube. Thoughts like these never entered my head 20 years ago. Thoughts like. Why are NFL linebackers so strong and so fast and why are they able to maintain 245? And I realized that it was because they aren't doing pointless 400 meter dashes. They are sticking with 40 yards and below. It's simple things like this that I never even realized. I was trying to powerlift and do 400s at the same time. They don't go together.

Here's another idea for your next thread: a barbell squat, but the twist is that you put a dirty pair of underwear over your head so we'll have no idea if X lbs is actually an impressive lift or not.

Try to be nicer and control your anger.

    Think happy thoughts.

And i'm neither. I'm just someone trying to get stronger and faster at the track.
