    carabiners... for large chains

Anyone know where one can buy carabiners that are large enough for 3/4 inch chain. I bought a bunch of chains from Titan both 5/8 and 3/4 and they sent carabiners that are too small. I mentioned it to them and of course they proceeded to send me the exact same ones. They are ok for 5/8 but way too small for 3/4. Hardware stores, dont sell big enough ones and they are very small one end and large on the other. D shapped style ones are the ones that are best for heavy chains...

Anyone know where one can get them...I see that elitefts has them but I try to avoid dealing with them when I can find a comparable product somewhere else. The ones he sells there is no mention of size, and they dont look expensive but they clearly marked them up what id guess is double ...thansk.

Titan chains are fine by the way...hard to F than up. I do like that they are cheap and are clean and are 6 feet not 5 feet like most.

I don't use chains, so I really have no concept of what size is needed. Some of my climbing buddies use some pretty large ones though. I don't know if they're big enough for your needs (and they tend to be expensive since having someone fall off a cliff because a carabiner broke is bad for business).

I'm sure McMaster-Carr has them on their site.

Locally, check a couple hardware stores. Sometimes smaller ones actually have less commonly requested parts.

This. They have large oblong ones (type 4 on their page) that work well. Make sure you get one with "opening" at 3/4" or more.

    ^^^^ Agreed.
At age 61, I've exceeded all my prior PRs. Not “over the hill” yet. :)

I lift with chains fairly often, just use leaders, kind of a pita. Been thinking about getting a set of these, Sorinex makes similar ones too:

I'm not a competing powerlifter or a bodybuilder, just love to lift and get stronger. I think chains are useful to gain strength, but I think a powerlifter should stick to non-dynamic resistance for the most part, since that is how you compete.

Will a cheap carabiner like this not fit? I bought this exact one for relatively low weight applications. A 50lb chain certainly qualifies.

I usually use a leader chain when I use chains with a bar, but I got something like this as well--I mostly use it if I want to wear a chain bandolier-style for bodyweight movements:
