    How many strict pull ups can you do, misc?

    My gym does monthly challenges, this month it's pull ups for reps. Rules are as follows:

    1. pronated Grip
    2. full extension at the bottom
    3. no kipping (which I assume is cross-fit pull-ups)


    Don't really train pull ups for reps, usually just throw in 3x8 or 3x10 during back day. First attempt got 16, then got 19, then got 21 (on different days). Felt pretty good, I'm in 2nd place behind a dude that is ripped at 150 lb. and got 28. The guys that usually beat me at the strength related challenges, that are 6'+ and 200+ lb. cycled to the gills are in the 10-12 rep range lol.


    Surprised to see how much it can go up if you just keep doing AMRAPs. How many you got in you misc?

    About 8 at the moment...used to do 20 once upon a time

    kinda stopped doing pull ups regularly after my shoulder started hurting, but this thread reminded me i need to get back into it

    Make sure you swim 500 yards first, then do as many pushups in 2 minutes as you can, then as many sit ups as you can, and then bust out your pull ups knowing you're about to run 1 1/2 miles in boots .

    I have a crippled right arm so it's tough. But I can do 2 full pullups fully extended. Absolutely zero momentum or swaying or anything.

    With momentum probably about 8 or 9 right now. And that's an improvement. I was at like 4 or 5 about 7 months ago. Distance running and cross country and 400 meter dashes have effectively and thoroughly destroyed every single ounce of muscle in my back from the back swing.

    That's what distance running does to you. And why you should never do anything distance related or jogging related. So now i'm doing linebacker training since 2015 to start to build it back up. And i'm barely making progress even after 4 years.. That's how thoroughly the lactic acid from distance running has destroyed my back.

    Once you do distance running for a good majority of your life you're basically screwed.

    Wish my gym had a weight belt. I'm always better at high weight than high reps, I think I'd be able to add a joocy amount to my pull ups and crank out low rep ranges

    Just two for now (fully extended, slow tempo).

    I'm training them as often as I can to increase them. I would like to get 10 ultimately.

    I can do 3 chin ups but those are easier.

    For a chick though that's pretty damn good. Some of the extremely fit chicks at the gym can't even manage one. There are a couple on the board with reps, but they're extremely light.

    Just buy one, mine was like $10 off amazon

    For comparisons sake i'm somewhere between 8-10 with 45lbs, and 6 or so with 70ishlbs so i'm just guessing with bodyweight ones.

    Dead hangs I've done 11 then second set usually 6-7 then third 3-4. I blow out so fast on pull ups but I literally hang for like 2-3 sec between each rep, feelsgoodman.

    Why ywould you hang for 3 seconds between each rep? All that does is kill your gripk, it's not time under tension for your biceps or lats.

    I like coming to a complete stop and make sure no swing/momentum is used.
