Pentagon concerns spike in pro-Russian sentiment among U.S. troops

What is this Pro-Russia propaganda they keep citing when discussing Russia Russia Russia! hysteria? I have literally not experienced any of it on social media or anywhere.

Pentagon concerns spike in pro-Russian sentiment among U.S. troops
The U.S. military officials have concerned the spike in pro-Russian sentiment among the households of military members.

More than 1,000 U.S. adults responded between Oct. 24 and Oct. 30, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points to the second annual national defense survey conducted by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. Almost 46% of the households of military members viewed Russia as an ally even considering the increase in tension between the two countries.

The Voice of America has reported that while a majority, 71% of all Americans and 53% of military households, still views Russia as an enemy, the spike in pro-Russian sentiment has defense officials concerned.

“There is an effort, on the part of Russia, to flood the media with disinformation to sow doubt and confusion,” Defense Department spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Carla Gleason told VOA.

“This is not only through discordant and inflammatory dialogue but through false narratives designed to elicit sympathetic views,” she said, adding, “we are actively working to expose and counter Russian disinformation whenever possible.”

The Deutsche Welle reported that in order to manipulate public discussions, especially in times of elections or referendums, information providers controlled by the Kremlin have purposefully disseminated disinformation, extremely hyperpartisan news and populist narratives. This is not an extension of pluralism of opinion through balanced and objective information that is acceptable in the sense of a free public sphere, but rather illegitimate interference.

These novel disinformation campaigns exploit the increased information overload experienced by people in the digital world. They flood the information space with a multitude of lies, half-truths or absurd news.

A report prepared for the Senate that provides the most sweeping analysis yet of Russia’s disinformation campaign around the 2016 election found the Russian propaganda uses every major social media platform to deliver words, images and videos tailored to users’ interests to influence they.

Russia isnt our ally but the gov has used them as the basis for decades of detrimental foreign policy. they need people to believe theyre an direct and imminent threat and not ask questions. just lol at them freaking out because theyre losing the ability to manipulate public perception with the russian boogyman narrative.

I think it is a form of reverse phsycology. The media force feeds us anti Russian rhetoric about election interference, Russians backing murderous dictators, Brexit, etc, etc. Eventually we become desensitized and the anti Russian propoganda has an opposite effect. Especialy when so much of the information spread by the media turns out to be blatant innacurate bs.

Pretty sure this was Putins plan all along over saturate us with anti Russian propoganda so that when Russia actually does something noteworthy we just ignore it.

Where exactly is Russia planting this propaganda? All the major social network sites are controlled by neo-liberals, all of the MSM is controlled by neo liberals.....where is this apparently influential propaganda being slipped in?

What this sounds like to me is that the government and military industrial complex cant be the main controllers of propaganda, and that the internet allows alternative viewpoints. Just a matter of time before the internet is regulated like it is in China.

They’re claiming right wing narratives are being written in Moscow. Basically, I think this schit started during the Obama administration during the Syria red line debacle and after that Crimea/ Ukraine; it gave the right confirmation that Obama is a weak leader when it comes to military/ foreign policy. In these proxy scenarios, where you can assign Russia as winner over the us / Obama administration, the media / intelligence officials can disguise legitimate dissent from the right as Russian propaganda to cover their asses.

The right saw Obama as a wuss and Putin as a strong leader, hence where trump got his we need strength trope. The notion that there are / were legitimate Russian infiltration of our media causing these reactions is complete fiction

I'm not worried about Russia at all. We have much bigger problems, especially domestically but if I had to worry about foreigners I would undoubtedly worry about the Chinese. What they're doing to Hongkongers is messed up. God forbid they do **** like that to Taiwan.

Facts. Theyve relied on the lie of "Russian aggression" for decades and are losing their chit that people are waking up and realizing russia hasnt been a threat for 30 years now.

Theyre desperate to keep the spotlight off china because of their business interests.

Right, Russia's the one rivaling the global economic might of the United States and building aircraft carriers for power projection. China's the one who's only aircraft carrier and accompanying dry dock fell into the ocean during maintenance and China's the one with a smaller economy than California.

These old politicians need to move on already. Pelosi's been around since the Civil War, I don't know how much glue and botox that it requires to keep her body together.

They aren't an ally, but they aren't really an opponent either.

Russia can get most of what Russia wants and it won't be the end of America.

By contrast if the Dems get what they want America won't have a cohesive culture.

Given that I am done playing world police and would rather play world assassin I am more than happy to let Russia manage the Whabbists for a while.
