    Is 135 lbs standing barbell OHP impressive?

    This is gonna be my new goal. I can do 95 pounds for four.

    The last 40 pounds shouldn’t be too difficult to achieve with determination and practice.

    But is it stupid? Like, even a good indication of strength?

    Bro, I got some bad news. You can even feel an extra 2 lbs on the OHP, so I wouldn't count on it being easy. However, looking at your stats, you should be able to easily get there me thinks.

    The problem with this question is that your not aiming to be the best you can be. Don’t worry about what’s a “good number” do the work, focus on the process, and get your results, and go from there. 95lbs isn’t impressive to someone who can do 135lb, 135lbs isn’t impressive to someone who can do 185lbs, and so on. So when does it stop?

    I never set weight goals either. Just train with intensity using progressive overload and eat, sleep and hydrate enough to improve.

    I did 200 ohp seated (not my max) and finally snap citied. I had shoulder pain for years first though. I was testing for pain to tell my doc. Did several 11.5 reps:/

    I was 6ft 3 255 at the time

    135 is more than average. Strict press of course with 0 leg drive. If your push pressing or seated it’s not good.


    I’ve been really working on my standing OHP and have gone from a 145 1RM to a 165 1RM but that’s after like 4 months, so gains are slow with it.

    Just really work on your form. That’s 90% OHP.

    bodyweight aside i think 185+ is where its respectable. if i see anyone 2 plates and above with OHP which is rare as fuk in commercial gyms, i'm thoroughly impressed srs

    Above average. I don't do barbell ohp's but I've only seen one guy that I can remember rep 135 with a barbell in 25 years in commercial gyms. Most phaggots overload the hammer shoulder press machine and squat-press 2-4 plates then look around like they've just set a record.

    135 is my warmup, I haven't even worked out for months because of a hernia surgery and I still started back up at 135, I was doing over 200lbs in my 5x5, though that was unsupported seated. I guarantee I could still do much more than 135 standing though. Why are people so weak in this forum?

    For 12+ reps, sure. That would be impressive

    By normal lifting standards, I'd call 185+ where you might start calling it "impressive" (not powerlifting celltechcel standards). 135 for a clean OHP max is insane by general population standards. 75% of grown men in their 20's would struggle just to flat bench 135 clean, let alone OHP it.

    maybe its just me ( I do have bad shoulders), but I Max on bench @ 325, and only over head press 115 for reps. But it's not a lift I tend to go heavy on
