    Maybe, you should try it with dumbbells. I'd say that the difference is minor if the essence of the movement lies in the front to back/back to front phase that's demonstrated in the video I posted.

    They're a staple of Olympic lifting. After a few weeks of doing them and learning about proper thoracic extension and scapular movement, I'm now comfortable with doing them.

    The reason so many get hurt doing them is that visually incorrect and correct form are very hard to tell apart. Unless you're instructed how to do them, you won't intuitively know.

    VERY few people in my mind are at a place where they need to start targeting specific areas of muscle groups. Most who think they need to 'target' this or 'target' that really just need to focus on general development.

    BUT if you are wanting to work more rear delts, I would not be doing it with an overhead pressing movement. I would be rowing. (or face pulling...etc)

    Most of the golden era bodybuilders were at one point in their careers Olympic style lifters, even Arnold competed in these lifts.
