What do you call Durham putting out a memo stating he told IG he disagreed with their report a month ago? Durham investigation isn't limited and is all encompassing, so he would have more information than Horowitz, right?

The ONLY reason he would make a statement like this is if his report directly contradicts Horowitz, yes?

He's in a position to contradict the IG report because he has more information available to him than what Horowitz had. If Horowitz made a key finding (whether for or against the case of spying on Trump) it would actually be in the best interest of the DOJ to correct that assertion based on the additional information uncovered in a formal investigation rather than to let the potentially false assertion percolate throughout the media.

Trying to be objective as possible, Horowitz did his job and showed that the FISA process was abused. There was a low standard burden of proof to open up an intrusive surveillance campaign into a Presidential candidate, the report says as much. I'm happy that the IG admitted that much at least. And resulted into the standard outcome when it comes to an internal audit (e.g. procedures will be revised, blah blah blah) and since the FBI leadership at the time is no longer employed at the FBI, there really isn't any administrative action that needs to take place to further rectify the situation.

In the preparation of the FISA applications to surveil Carter Page, the Crossfire Hurricane team failed to comply with FBI policies, and in so doing fell short of what is rightfully expected from a premier law enforcement agency entrusted with such an intrusive surveillance tool.

However, it's also clear he couldn't go any further because his investigation was stonewalled in various ways, as also indicated in the report. If AG Barr is in possession of knowledge that indicates something more nefarious may have happened, it may have been outside the purview of the IG's investigation and why AG Barr and Mr. Durham have stated as much. Again, we'll have to wait for the next investigation to conclude.

Maybe. It's pretty damning that Durham AND Barr have came out and shiet on his report. Unless they have something that directly contradicts it, I don't see why they would do this. And this is keeping in mind the report definitively states there was no basis on the Dossier to keep renewing the FISA warrants. Basically EVERYTHING they did but actually start the investigation was wrong. So it seems that Durham will come out with reasons on why the report had no basis to begin with.

I'm trying to speculate what kind of criminal charges could even be leveraged out of Durham's investigation. His investigators would need to be in possession of some pretty damning material to get a conspiracy charge to stick. The DOJ has done a pretty good job of tip-toeing around anything that involves high ranking members of our government.

Barr is contradicting the IG. Barr has more information than the IG. He has all the information regarding the rest of our intelligence community's involvement, along with international involvement. Horowitz did not. So why do you think that Horowitz's conclusions, based on his limited info from current FBI and DOJ officials, is correct and that the expanded information held by durham and barr in their criminal probe is incorrect?

The mueller report and this investigation are linked. If there was an effort to illegally spy on and then overthrow the president of the united states, then it makes sense that barr felt obligated to set the record straight regarding the corrupt investigation done by Mueller, as well as where the current investigation is going.

Only you can look at all of this and still think that everything is fine.

The burden of proof for opening an investigation is low, not for spying. Spying requires verified facts to be presented to a court. They didn't meet that, as proven in the report. They illegally spied on the trump team with fake intel, manipulated intel, and withheld intel that would prove trump members innocent.

Barr and durham know more about the papadapolous meeting with downer and Mifsud. Those were set up. So if horowitz doesn't have that info and says "I guess the predicate was legit, but it was just hearsay by a trump team member that Russia had Clinton's emails, not that anyone was involved..." when Barr and Durham know that Mifsud was tasked with planting that idea and downer was tasked with extracting that info from papadapolous… oh boy! We have a problem here with the predicate...

That is where this is going.
