Even 50-year-old climate models correctly predicted global warming

Cliffs: Meta-analysis shows climate models from 1970-2007 were strikingly accurate in predicting global surface temperature changes.

“No statistically significant difference between their output and historic observations.”

Actual publication is linked in the article.

Deniers tend to magnify any small inaccuracies in an attempt to invalidate the entire field.

Ya that's because atmospheric physics hasn't changed a whole lot since then.

Also, even if u completely reject the idea of climate change, we still need to get off fossil fuels since we are seriously running out.

We've been aware for a long time. Ever since I can remember I have heard something about global warming or climate change, and it's probably been known way longer than that.

"The best physics-based model will still be inaccurate if it is driven by future changes in emissions that differ from reality. To account for this, we look at how the relationship between temperature and atmospheric CO2 (and other climate drivers) differs between models and observations." -- from the article's (link) source.

I'm not buying it. I grew up in the 70's/80's and the big catchphrase then was Global Cooling. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling
Then they went to Global Warming, then Climate Change because they can't get anything right.

I've said so many times that we need to undertake a MASSIVE research project. Spend like 2-5% of GDP on finding new energy sources. This would be the new space race. We have to do it now before it is too late, and we run out of fuels. We could then share this tech with everyone, and everyone in the world would be better off. We also wouldn't have to fight over oil anymore.

CO2 is stalking me. Hunting me. It lurks in the shadows watching me, and when the times right will throw a sea level rise at me and I'll die. You'll all die. Please turn over your money and car keys to the government then eat the babbies.

A trace gas that plants need will definitely destroy the planet. Mining rare earth minerals is awesome tho...

Simple as that. As far as the dooms day crap, its a scam to drain wealth and power from western nations.

Theyre trying to label natural heating and cooling cycles of the earth as man made disaster BS, I dont buy it for a minute.

why when we have nuclear power that is pretty much limitless. If we subsidized that instead of wind and solar we'd be a thousand times better off

It isn't limitless. There isn't that much available uranium. We also need better ways of dealing with the waste. We'd need to build like thousands of nuclear reactors all over the world to supply the energy needed. And there is a serious risk of accidents. They are safe, but when you have that many of them, well...chit can go wrong. I think when we run out of oil, we will start facing the reality. Most other forms of energy are harder to get. It won't be cheap or easy. Wind and solar is nice, but again, solar stuff just isn't efficient enough to harness all that energy. And wind is unreliable cuz...well, it's wind. It's sad because the most renewable resource we have is coming from the sun. It should last us for the lifetime of our species. But unfortunately, it simply doesn't seem easy to make solar panels any more efficient. We would really need to spend a lot of money on research to get it to work, and it might not pay off at all. There is no nice solution to this problem. If we knew what it was, we'd do it lol.

No. In the methods they set search criteria and examined all publications which included that criteria (projected global temp with minimum 2 time points, and future projected CO2 concentrations).

Deniers tend to magnify any small inaccuracies in an attempt to invalidate the entire field.
Nobody denies our affect on the planet. What’s annoying is the people who politicize it, have no solutions of their own, and think it’s something as simple as getting the government to throw money at scientists to figure it out like they haven’t been doing already. There’s no clear answer. If you really want change then educate yourself and figure it out on your own like Fion Ferreira. 18 year old kid invented a way to remove microplastics out of the water. He didn’t waste time picketing and tweeting. He got to work and actually contributed something that could help the planet. Bringing awareness is just a redundant waste of time for people who want to virtue signal. It’s about as useful as “thoughts and prayers” or changing your facebook background to show support.
