I cannot believe a former POTUS would write books, do paid speeches, etc., making millions of dollars and buying big houses with their money. In all seriousness, this is the norm. Yes, former POTUS's have big houses, especially since they have bases for secret service on their properties. People should have whatever size house they want. No one wants rich people to stop spending their money on lavish things. We want rich people to spend money because it stimulates the economy. But I fail to see how living in a big house means that you can't believe that someone who makes $1 billion per year should pay more in social security tax than someone who makes $120k. This is America and everyone should have the opportunity to earn as much money as they want, but it doesn't mean the wealthy should benefit over regular workers through tax caps, capital gains tax, and tax loopholes just because they are wealthier.

Books are bought in bulk by company/person who wants access to person in power, who then gives the books away for free. This used to be a popular tactic with Unions, but now a ton of people do it.

This is why what Andrew Yang is proposing is important. Elected officials should not be able to profit after their time in office. Pay the president well while in office, like a couple mil. But he shouldn't be able to sit on any boards or give paid speeches to special interests after office.
