    Congrats on breaking the 225 ceiling. But if you are serious about getting to 315 you obviously need to change your training routine and/or diet.

    Easiest way of getting bigger numbers in the bench is just upping the frequency.

    ive been running 531 for only 6 months probably.

    Also, when i started serious lifting my bench was 95lbs x 5 touch and go, i would say reaching 225 after 3 years its pretty good taking in account my genetics for flat bench are crap (long arms, sknny wrists, small ribcage).

    I think he was just pointing out it's not going to be easy to hit 315 in only a year if it took 3 to get 225. I was never very good at benching and I want to say it took 7 months or so in the gym to hit a double with 225 at 6' 1" 190lbs and before then I never did anything remotely resembling physical activity. It was a struggle slowly getting to 3 plates though and never got any higher before I stopped. I want to say it took me 2 years just to go from 225-315 with the bulk of that time being spent pushing past 275.

    Grats though it's a nice milestone to hit. GL on your road to 315 it feels good when you finally get there.

    I could OHP 95 for 8 or 9 the first time I tried. I wonder if I should expect to get 225 OHP after 3 years.

    It's actually terrible for three years, especially if you're training specifically for strength, but that's because you don't eat.

    well, OHP is way harder than flat bench.

    225 strict OHP its like 315 flat bench IMO.

    I know that feel, its addicting srs. That adrenaline rush you feel before, and the feeling you get AFTER breaking your PR is GOAT. Even more when you truly dont know if you will get it, that just makes the achievement way better.

    Been training for 12 years and only the last few months ive doing maxes. Never really did deadlifts but ive been doing them lately a lot just to be able to keep breaking my PRs lol.

    A 225 OHP takes WAY MORE work than a 315 bench.

    I would honestly equate a 225 OHP to a 330-340 bench.

    Hitting 225 OHP is incredibly harder than 3 plate bench as mentioned, would equate it to 365 based on my maxes.

    Hitting 225 OHP is incredibly harder than 3 plate bench as mentioned, would equate it to 365 based on my maxes.
    ive always been better at OHP pressing than bench pressing so probably i will get 225 OHP before i get 315 bench, srs.

    390 LB cheating leg curl for 1 rep at 6'0 and 227 on the "Life Fitness" Leg Curl machine. ( 195 LBS for 1 rep on each leg )
