    Looking for opinions

    My son is 13. Loves football, loves working out, loves training. I was wondering when is it appropriate to introduce him to supplements and which ones I should start with, if any at all. I have done some reading about it but would like other suggestions.

    If he isn’t already, get him into a habit of eating good home-cooked food, helping to make it where possible.

    You’ll set him in much better stead for the future that way than going down the route of supplements at such an early age.

    At his age, he doesn't really need supplements. Biologically, he is going to be at an incredible advantage just focusing on eating and training. Supplements won't speed up any of it, it will just be a costly non-factor.

    I would focus more on proper healthy eating. Most kids have a tendency to eat junkfood for a snack as soon as they get hungry. Making sure he avoids that will be much better to focus on than introducing supplements.

    "Clean" is also a subjective term. It's all just food at the end of the day made of different macro and micronutrients. Just let the kid eat.

    I am no dietician but if I look back at myself at that age, forming good and healthy views of food and working out shaped my views later on. I had to change some of them (fats are bad! eating less is the only path to weight loss!), while some of my great view points came from that period as well: steady exercise is better than high highs and low lows (low lows = months of being lazy in between seasons).

    If we just look at the word supplement, the biggest supplement I ever made to my health and fitness was forming healthy habits and getting rid of my bad ones as early as I could.
