I'm not gonna lie I was a Mike Tomlin aka Omar Epps hater in the past but I can't hate on what he has done for the Steelers this year. After losing AB, Leveon Bell, and then Roethlisberger for the season, then having to use 3 Qbs so far, he has done a good job with everything that has happened. Should he win Coach of the Year?

He's a candidate for sure, but if they stumble in the last couple games and miss the playoffs his chances are gone. It also might highlight that the players you mentioned are mildly overrated and bring little true value to the team. Conner (when healthy) was a suitable replacement for LB and AB's value would have been diminished without Big Ben anyway so I'm not sure they were that big of losses. Not to mention LB wasn't even on the team last year either since he held out so they already had a year to adapt to that and fill his role, granted LB is a beast.

Right now, today, the answer is no.
If they can make a playoff run, then yes
today I would go with John Harbaugh, he has that team playing PHYSICAL. Very fun to watch that offense and defense, reminds me of old school punishing football.*** Free Thinker Crew ***

Hypothetical scenario to try and discredit a coach. Neat.
Pittsburgh lost to the 49ers by 4 points. They lost to the Seahawks by 2 points. They beat the Rams and while in the AFC, they lost to the Ravens by 3 points. They did all that with a garbage QB who isn't even starting any longer.
While I'm not arguing that Tomlin should be coach of the year, what he's done after losing Big Ben, AB and Bell, I think he's done a very good job and probably should be in the running. How they finish the year will be telling if he deserves to be considered or not.New England Patriot

Asking twice for a reason?
But yes. 49ers could lose out and still go from 4-12 to 10-6.
They were 21/16 on offense in terms of points scored/yards gained last year
They were 28/13 on defense in terms of points allowed/yards allowed last year.
This year they're
2/6 on offense
2/1 on defense
They have done this with their LT being out the bulk of the season. Their RT out for a large part of the season. Their 3rd string OT being out the whole year.
Injuries at WR
Kittle missing a few games and playing on a bad knee/ankle
Garoppolo coming off an ACL injury
Their prized DE addition in FA being banged up all year and missing games.
Their prized LB addition in FA being out most of the year.
Their two losses have come by 3 points in each game. Both games included missed/blocked FGs. Seattle game having the missed FG happen in OT for what would've been a win.
Steelers are 7-5
They were 6/4 on offense in terms of points scored/yards gained last year
They were 16/6 on defense in terms of points allowed/yards allowed last year.
This year they're
24/28
6/5
Does Tomlin get credit for the team not falling apart? Sure. Is he HC of the Year because his aging QB is out? I don't see how when they're clearly winning on defense and that D was giving up 30.5 points per game before they added Fitzpatrick to it.
What team did they peat that's that impressive? The Colts with Brian Hoyer and no TY Hilton and the Rams?
Sorry but what Shanahan has done is way more impressive than what Tomlin has done.
Hell I'd put John Harbaugh, Sean McDermott over Tomlin.

They got completely outplayed in that 49ers game. 49ers had almost twice the total yardage in that game they just played insanely sloppy with 5 turnovers. 49ers misplayed two plays on D and that's the only thing Pittsburgh was able to do in that game.
They didn't have Bell last year either so why is losing him a feather in Tomlin's cap? They got killed against the Pats with Ben in there and they were getting beaten thoroughly by Seattle before Rudolph came in.
The biggest move for them was adding Fitzpatrick who has been exactly what they needed. But you can't claim it was Tomlin putting that D together when they went from giving up 30.5 per game without Minkah to playing as well as they have since they traded for him.
And you have no problem coming in here quoting me(twice btw) at the audacity of me thinking Shanahan should get it when the season isn't over then claiming we'll see what happens in regards to what Pittsburgh can do.
What happens if the 49ers win their remaining games? Is there any question that Shanahan should get it?

This. I think if we go 10-6 and make the playoffs he will have a very good shot. We have a 4th string undrafted rookie QB, practice squad running backs, practice squad and rookie receivers, have had injuries/suspensions to our O-line. Besides being blown out by the Pats week 1, we have a 2pt loss to Seattle, fumbled away the game in OT to the Ravens, and fumbled away the game against the niners after forcing 5 turnovers. Could be 9-3 at this point if it weren't for 1-2 critical mistakes by players that should be our most reliable. Even the fact that he let a top 3 RB (at the time) walk and traded away arguably the best WR in the NFL just to make a point should be enough to win COY if we make the playoffs. Minkah trade also a big plus. I say he finishes in the top 3 but not sure if he will actually win it.Last edited by BishsBMirin; 12-04-2019 at 01:48 PM.

Only asked it once. Must have double posted. Don't get your panties in a bunch.
You're a huge 49er homer, so it doesn't surprise me you think Shanahan is the clear cut winner at this point in time and completely dismiss anyone else. And just LOL at discrediting a defense for forcing 5 turnovers in a game. I don't give a fk how much they were outplayed, Pittsburgh did what they needed to to keep the game close.

Nothing for Pete Carroll? Give the guy an honorable mention here.
Most saw this season as a rebuild. Defense a sorry shadow of years past, offensive line still garbage, underperforming RB's and WR's, and a bottom 5 secondary. Maybe 4 wins, given NFC west being a total meat grinder.
He finally let Russ make every play, patched together a defense with gum and tape, and wins by 4-5 points every week including the undefeated 49'ers where they were outmatched at 20 of 22 spots.
