I love my STEM job, but you better believe if I enjoyed acting and was any good at it ( I don't and am not ) I would do so in a heart beat and probably contribute to open source projects in my free time.

I hate to break it to you, but for the vast, vast majority of people, 'it' is about money. Maybe life as a whole isn't, but working (no matter what you work at) definitely is. Money is the best tool to provide life satisfaction and security, earn enough and you're free to do whatever you want to seek fulfillment.

Being smart =/= enjoying math, science or technology. It simply means you are smart and good at problem solving. Figuring out the best way to pay your bills is a problem to solve. High IQ doesn't mean you should be automatically drawn to STEM. It's a measurement of cognitive ability. If you're not interested in any STEM fields you're not going to be good at them just because you have a high IQ. It means you're going to be able to pick up and retain knowledge well in the areas you do want to study
