    Gym flooring recommendations

I just built a new home gym in my basement (21’ x 16’) and I’d like to put some sort of rubber flooring down (concrete floor). I’m torn between the rubber roles/mats and rubber tiles.

I have basic weight lifting equipment including a rack of dumbells, cage, lat pull down machine and a treadmill. I also plan to leave room for other cardio/aerobic exercises (box jumps, etc).

I’m thinking 3/8” thickness should work. I plan to install myself. I have used cheap tiles before but they seem to detach easily. It would seem the rumbler rolls would be better for cardio etc.? I’m concerned the rubber rolls would be too heavy to move.

    Thoughts/suggestions? Retailer?

I have rolled rubber flooring from Regupol and it’s great. I got the 3/8” with color flecks.

I have Regupol I order from rogue. Comes in 4' width. Have them cut it into four 4'x21' rolls for your space. Easy to handle, drag roll in place, cut it open then trim it.

Another vote for Regupol, I chose 15% red fleck, I replaced stall mats, they did a good job of protecting the equipment and floor, but my stall mats were not all exactly the same size and colour, also not all the edges were square.

The Regupol is easy to instal and the lack of joins makes for a cleaner look. Protection wise 3/8" rolled rubber is just as effective as 3/4" stall mats.

Regupol and horse stall mats are the only options to consider. Both handle it all. Stall mats are cheaper. Regupol is nicer. If you have the budget and give a ****, go with Regupol. This recommendation comes from someone that has had 2 gyms with stall mats including my current which is roughly your size. Don't get me wrong, stall mats are just fine and I'm happy enough not to even consider swapping them but from scratch I'd go Regupol for sure.

This is exactly how I feel. I have my stall mats setup and it works fine but the next time I build a gym (probably not for a long time) I am going Regupol for sure.

Christian's Fitness Factory is where I got my Regupol flooring. Not sure where irongrandpa got his.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I ordered it through Rogue. After adding shipping it came to $2.36/sq ft. This was from about 2 years ago.

I got a quote for roughly $3.03 per square foot from Rogue for 400 sq feet including shipping for 20% color 3/8" flooring.
