Unhappy Beginner powebuilding program squat replacment

Hi guys! So anyway I'm following the beginner powerbuilding program in the stickies and it's all going great except for squat because i have a problem in my left knee as it hurts like hell whenever i squat ( i tried everything to fix it but to no avail) so i was thinking of replacing it with something else any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance....

You could try reverse lunges and see if your knee hurts.

Or the leg press machine but it might hurt so be careful.

Have you seen a specialist about it as I would be concerned about the potential long term impact knee damage may have to your life.

Also how old are you as I am afraid the more maturer lifters may require extra support due to previous injuries, age related stress etc (not all but some).

You could try box squatting to control how far you squat down to limit knee pain. Also posting a form video here may help to assess where incorrect form maybe a issue.

You also had problems benching, I am not too sure powerlifting program is great for you, have you tried lowering the weight?

Well we can rule out injuries then. At 17 you shouldn't have knee or shoulder problems (based on your previous post), how long have you been weight training for?

I think it can be put down to two things either:-

    1) You haven't been training long enough to adapted to the discomfort involved in working out.

    2) Your form is off.

If you are a beginner you can start off quite light and progress up from there. I assume you can squat without weight with no pain, if not then you must seek medical assistance as a 17 yr old should be able to carry all the lifts involved in this workout program:-

So either seek medical assistance from a trained professional or post a form video here so we can have a look and help guide you.

If you can't do a fundamental human movement without knee pain you should be seeing a specialist asap, especially at 17. If you get cleared and its crappy technique vs an actual injury then get a form check video uploaded on here.

Agree with everyone above. You need to get that knee looked at it (or your form).
