    Ugh!

Of course they do. That is why you don’t kill them you make them suffer, kill them and they are gone there can be no suffering or agony or pain in their lives. Death is a release . Nothingness.

15 hours a day at the rock pile the others 9 hrs in a 8 by 8 cell. Slop and water for dinner and breakfast and lunch.

No tv. Only the Wall Street journal once a week to read

Maybe Blair the theme song to seasame street or fat Albert in their cells on a continueal loop as loud as it can go for 4 hours straight every night

Some people will say remove the appeals process, but then you're more and more likely to kill innocent people. Around 3/4 of people sentenced to death are not executed, and wrongful conviction or unconstitutional statutes are among the reasons.

All in all, capital punishment is completely retard tier. That's why most of the developed world got rid of it.

Gotcha - so in an already overburdened overpopulated police state and corrections facilities we have, just keep adding more to it? Should we not then put people on death row so easily? Should there be more basis/controls surrounding being put there than not? Should we decriminalize other offenses to lighten the load?

Srsly curious as my thoughts are:
-Irrefutable proof to crazy extent: I.E. - video evidence, DNA, admitting guilt, etc. to start off, sure maybe add even more. Then I say let's make it quick and get it over with. Maybe have 3 judges go through the case or something... to get that verdict hammer dropped on them. Per your article - getting that verdict is wrong if over 75% were not executed. That's a 75% failure rate, why the fuk are we not changing how to get that sentence rather than just letting the other 25% go?

Nonviolent crimes maybe relating to some drugs are decriminalized to an extent, much more conversation here.

Parts where I get angry is when we have profound serial killers and hitmen doing netflix documentaries who have been sitting in the systems for over a decade and getting married with happy time visits.... like fukkin kill em already.

Also per your article... they have mandatory time where they sit for 15-20years already prior to being killed. The reason why death row is so much more expensive per your article include:
-Increased security due to threat level
-Increased medical due to aging, mental issue, etc.

    Cost per injection.... $83.55

There is much more issues surrounding it than the surface level you provided. My autistic screeching has not been satisfied... good day sir.

Free the majority of non-violent offenders including all drug offenders. The number of people who dismember children is much lower than the number who get done for selling weed. So now you have plenty of prison space and plenty of resources.

Death penalty process is long because it needs to be long, end of story. Death penalty is irreversible, and you can't compensate the person if you get it wrong. Lots and lots of people have been rightly acquitted thanks to the appeals process. You simply cannot cheapen that process unless you want innocent people dead.

The cost of capital punishment is so astronomically higher than life imprisonment (studies done in California found it to be something like 18 times higher) than even if you were to trim a bit of fat (while risking killing more innocent people of course), it still will remain much higher in cost.

So all in all, capital punishment

    1) Costs many times more
    2) Kills innocent people
    3) Doesn't deter crime

This is one of those objective, open and shut cases where there is literally no rational reason to be in favour of it, unless you think your emotional bloodlust trumps facts and logic.

Do you have proof you actually care about innocent people?

Brett Kavanaugh was innocent an you guys attacked him relentlessly. Look at the legal attacks Trump has to go through. Let's just say all the murderers vote Republican - then you'll be for their executions right?

Also, are you against euthanasia? Innocent people die from that too.

The "release people for weed violations" is such a disingenuous argument. Many of the sentences handed down take into consideration previous history of the defendant. Many times charges are dropped and lessened for plea bargains.

If there are people in prison for simply selling pot (without previous criminal history/plea bargains) , then I would agree but those are inmates are unicorns.

Actually things like that did happen. It's been happening for hundreds of years and our response has always been some heinous and barbaric and disturbingly creative ways of torturing and killing these people. Just look at all of those 14th-18th century torture and execution devices created in Europe and throughout China. Despite knowing they could face an horrendous death there were still rapists and thieves back then. So it didn't stop people from committing those crimes.

21st century western society should be better than that.

THIS is a slippery slope western nations should be above. Not putting down a serial killer. But saying that committing sexual assault because someone drank beer with friends.

I'm not getting side-tracked into a high-school level philosophy discussion on what does and doesn't constitute a 'normal civilised nation'. You can make your own thread for that.

Noone said they shouldn't face punishment, but they also shouldn't be locked in a heated brazen bull or turned upside down and cut in half saggitally by a crosscut saw.

To be okay with that level of barbarism makes us as a society just as disgusting as the criminal, and doesnt curtail or fix anything.

You know it was a lot more than that. He was your typical douchey frat-bro which was proven time and time again by his "brothers" in the fraternity who went up to testify.

I'm not saying hes guilty, but to say hes innocent because he wasnt accused doesnt settle things either.

so if a guy has a history of a temper that should be enough to put him to death?

that's why I said it's a dangerous slippery slope. I wasn't a frat boy but I partied and drank throughout college, are you just going to assume I am a sexual assaulter now?

that's the same thing. Imagine if a guy facing the death penalty (which should have an evidence threshold of 99%+) is sentenced because when he was in college he got into a lot of bar fights. Therefore he must be violent!
